2. If you install a LOT of themes and/or visual tweaks your device can slow down

@xDluvaofaltmetal No problem, and to answer your question, no, jailbreaking by itself wont affect your device negatively. If you go and install loads of memory-hoarding apps from cydia, however, it will be a different story.

Does jailbreaking effect your iPod? and u said u can download YouTube videos...does that mean once u download a video u don't need wifi to watch it, like does it go into your video folder?

@xDluvaofaltmetal Yes, you can download videos from youtube and watch them offline (without wifi). There may be an app that saves videos into the videos folder but the only ones that I know of save the videos inside of the apps themselves. I'm also really unsure how to answer your first question because it is extremely vague.

@thekingis6 You don't need to jailbreak to do this. You can call and text on the iPod for free using the Textfree with Voice app, available for free on the AppStore. Keep in mind that you will only be able to call and text with a wifi connection, even jailbreaking won't make it possible to call and text on an iPod without wifi because the hardware isn't there.

@thealex278 actually it doesnt slow it down at all. the reason it looks so slow is because i recorded it via screencapture over wifi (vnc), which made the video really slow and choppy
