@MsRenise at 0:29 he says "even watching NOVA." NOVA is a science television series in the US. At 1:01 he is talking about things they did to better understand their characters. He says it would have been impossible to think like them, and that they quickly found that reading about physics itself was pointless, so instead of trying to do that, or reading about their theories and work, he says they simply read the biographies of scientists/physicists.

It's interesting how, well... gay Jim Parsons carries himself in real life, but that doesn't really come through in Sheldon. I like actors who can really modify their personal mannerisms and get lost in characters, so that when you see them in real life, they are distinctly different from their characters. It's a credit to their acting ability.
