Has anyone ever noticed how beautifully the "when you wish upon a star"-theme is implemented in the music towards the end of the movie when Roy Neary leaves? I can't believe it's real...
To LadyMoondancer: Actually, this WAS on the DVD and Blu-ray box set. It can be heard on version #2 of the film, the one best known as "The Special Edition". and to xixteardropzxlx: The "When You Wish Upon A Star" version of the End Credits is available on the annivesary CD and on iTunes, but you have to purchase the entire album download for $9.99
Everytime I hear this song...instrumental or sung...it makes me want to be a kid again. To every kid out there who is trying to hurry up and grow up, I say: "Don't be in such a hurry to grow up. Hold onto your childhood as long as you can, because once you ARE grown...all you'll have are the memories".
@81Nickelbabe True that man. Childhood only lasts for about 14 years. The rest of it you have to spend being an adult. I feel like my childhood went by in a blink of an eye and everyday, I wish I could go back. I've gone back and rewatched everything I could remember from my childhood from movies, tv shows, cartoons, commercials, and I remember it all like it was yesterday and yet I know that I will see none of it on TV anymore. I definitely took my childhood forgranted.
@xlxteardropzxlx I know this was 3 months ago, but you take the URL, copy it and go to google and search for a Youtube converter. It will change it to an mp3 for you. Good luck!
I love how Williams adapted the Leigh Harline original, modulating the original melodic line up a pitch. Makes you wish he had adapted more Disney music.
@darthvalor07 Yes man i believe its actually one of the best parts of the movie in the special edition at the very end of the movie...there is a scene that shows nothing but stars in the clear sky and with this song...its just beautiful

Walt Disney was a genius, John Williams was a genius, together they can make things magical.

The first 20 or 30 bars of this beautiful tune is now used in every Disney DVD - intro .. when their logo appears.
