Actually, the role of Little Ricky was played by four different actors at one time. Richard Keith was the last one in 1956 - 1957. Twins Joseph A. Mayer and Michael Mayer did it from 1953 - 1956. Twins Richard Lee and Ronald Lee Simmons played him in 1953.

I think the only time Desi Arnaz, Jr. was in the show was where they showed his birth on national television.

lol no that's an actor. It was never Desi Jr. It's Keith Thibodeaux. Both of them looked a LOT alike and they both play drums. People used to confuse them a lot and Desi Jr. grew to resent it. But he just pokes fun at it now. They didn't want Desi Jr. to be in it because they thought Lucie would get jealous. They're both amazing though :)

In Bart Andrews' books on " I Love Lucy," Desi Arnaz Jr. said he studied percussion so he could play drums better than Keith Thibodeaux...and he was always grateful for that. In the 50th-anniversary "I Love Lucy" special, Desi Jr. did his own version of "Babalu" that kicked ass, too...
