Anyone know where you can find the tab for this pure awesomeness? i must learn it!! D: And the guitar lesson doesn't have the tab. Being tone deaf I can't figure out exactly what notes he's tapping with the right hand -.-
Why do people still have to bitch and say things like 'So and so's better'. Obviously there's better people, there's probably some Monk on the top of a mountain who practices 22 hours a day and is literally untouchable. However, my point is, this is an excellent piece of music that's very creative and utilises a significantly high level of guitar playing. It doesnt matter who's better than who.
I hate it when is compared to other guitarists that play fgast death metal shit... they're not better at all, they jut play repetative riffs fairly fast... this requires much more skill and concentration.
i can play this :) it was hard to learn at first but once you get it, you get it lol.. im rather proud to say that since ive only been playing two years :D still, newton is a true genious xD its just amazing
@FtaCapoeiraWoot Cmon man it is hard, bearin in mind he's on just an acoustic guitar. I hate the way some people think people who tap on electrics with super high distortion levels and very low action are god like, newton taps on acoustic which is so difficult, as well as using the body for percussion which breaks his nails from time to time, and sings, the man's incredible and better than any electric guitarist in my opinion aha
@Olie23231 I can play this - It aint the hardest thing in the world, but what I was trying to say was that the difficult thing to play is the percussion part - I always go out of time when i bring the percussice part in
ASll you guys comparing Newton to other people? Do you know how hard it is to tap acoustic? With both hands? And sing at the same time? Bear in mind the other guys pretty much are famous for tapping. This guys famous coz hes an awesome song writer, and incorporates tapping into his music.
@rockyonemambo Lol you go try tapping on an acoustic whilst playing percussive parts and singing at the same time in front of a live crowd. TLDR: He's really fucking good.
You really think this guy is 'ordinary?' Newton Faulkner is a genius when it comes to music and he really does have ALOT of talent. . . . And I agree with 'Barker Is OnFire.' You try and do that. If you think he's ordinary, I really think you should find out what talent really is.
@LauraSophieMoo I stand by what I say. I will also add that if Newton lost his "look", ie the dreadlocks, he wouldn't be as popular. He really is a most ordinary musician. Tapping is a very fancy trick and his accuracy leaves a lot to be desired. Anyhoo, what would you know?!
Nobody is popular because of their hair love. He's popular because of what he does. He's popular because of his amazing song writing, his amazing voice and his ability to involve rhythmic tapping to his playing. He is an extremely talented man. No doubt about it.
he plays that song for a total guitar lesson and breaks it down into its different parts but by the looks of the video i thot he came up wif it while sitting there being interviewed by total guitar
Anyone who likes this style of playing check out Eric Roche who was his mentor at music college, there's some vids on here. I was privileged to have a guitar workshop with Eric in 2001, was shocked to learn he died of cancer

You seem to ignore his voice which I think is at least as big a part of his music.
MrLoquatious 4 months ago
he only taps the base notes, but hammering on and pulling off while doing the percussive stuff as well is pretty impressive, can you play this piece?
