It involves turning the amp back to "old Spec".Gotta change the filter caps to a lower value, and somthin else...do a google search, and it'll come up. Good Luck
for all you young punks out there posting your vids from your bedroom acting like tone experts, this is REAL tone & REAL sound quality! I'm not talkin about the great recording quality either, I'm talkin bout the sound of the head. Killer job man !
I LOVE black sabbath, good tone and very good riff.....the iommi vibe ( with your entire fingers I supose XD!)...thanks for the demo, now I know the tone I WANT for my guitar ..jtm45+dyna ranger..thanks a lot friend, !
Icy cool riff, smoking hot tone makes for an explosive combo... Keep the clips coming. I truly appreciate what you're doing. It's very helpful in this day age when people are compelled to buy before using something. I'dike to hear that amp smackedw with some single coils & a Prescription Experience or some fuzz /octave...Again, keep it up ...!!! Thanks,
Personally I prefer a Gibson and a Marshall flat out, Treble full, Mid ..Mid! and Bass low - great sound, and doesn't sound like a fuzz box...which this set up does
Make sure that you or a tech can perform the mods..i.e. change the tubes to a KT66 platform, and put the older value filter caps in it. That makes all of the difference!
Save your money & get the tone of your dreams with a Metropoulos (a.k.a.Metro amp) .Sligo Amps can build a Metro kit for you.Germino Amps are flawless replicas of some of the finest examples of JTMs.All of these companies offer a better product than Marshall . Weird!!! They make better Marshalls than Marshall.
WOAAA!!!! That is possibly my new favourite guitar tone! lol. Which WCR pickups were you using? also, i noticed you had something plugged into 3 of the 4 inputs... what were they?
yeah it really is, man, i'm going to see if i can acquire a JTM45 now. lol. so the extra cable is just a jumper then? thats what i thought. which input is the actual guitar going into (or does it matter)?
last question, i promise! the Dyna-Ranger setting #2... is that the most similar setting to the real dallas rangemaster?
It from the first year of re-issues, 1990's vintage.
The best thing to do with these is to mod them back to KT66 tubes, and change one of the filter caps. There a a bunch of sites that have the mod...ZOSO might sell the whole kit. Or Metropolis.
Hey Now! Thats a good question. I haven't pluggged my Metal Zone into it yet. I'll do that soon. I'd bet it would sound good though. For me, the less circutry, the better the sound.
The pedal I'm using for this demo is a treble booster...a very old design for distortion...I'm going for a traditional kind of heavy sound. Like Bloodrock. Or Hawkwind. Crazy shit!
ueah . try to cut the high on the metalzone . some shit like this :bass 5 , treble 0 , mid 7 or 8 , and the mid fred set wherever you want to dial a good tone . and test it with a little amount of gain and lots of "level" . then tell me if it sounds good for thrash metal tones :D (even if i love oldschool tones such as the one in the vid better )
That will sound terrible on a JTM45. The natural bass of the amplifier is already muddy, boosting it with the metal zone will not make it sound any better. You really need to boost the highs and mids on this amplifier.
The JTM45 does not really have the tightness in bass response for metal, nor does it have the aggressiveness in pick attack, theres too much sag, particularly on the low notes and will not give you the definition for "chugga chugga" metal.
It may sound ok for metal, but with that regard, so would a Fender twin. There are amps that are much more suitable for metal that do not lack tone. A master volume Marshall (JCM800) will give much tighter bass response and a much more aggressive pick attack than the JTM which tends to "sag" a bit.
Like it a lot, it's very heavy in a non-Boogie sort of way!

@nnouuofficial I WAS JUST THINKING OF THIS VIDEO A MINUTE AGO!!!
I swear... This is too cool...I was remembering seeing the first Black Sabbath reunion,
and then thought of my experience with an "Iomi" tone...
and said to myself, "yeah...I remeber the JTM45 video I shot really gets the Old School Black Sabbath vibe".
And then your comment came in. :-) Perfect Timing.
Thanks for the kind words. AB

@AndyBaylor I'm happy to hear that! I'll try JTM45 and Dyna Ranger tomorrow. Your tone sounds great in Japan too!

@nnouuofficial LOL! I'm glad my tone sounds good in Japan.
It is a wonderful combimation, the Dyna Ranger and JTM45. Have fun trying them out.
Be careful though. It's gonna be loud....and you might awaken a sleeping reptile...or giant moth! .:-)

Hi,
I'm blown away by the massive sound with that combo(Marshall JTM45/Divby13 Dynaranger)
I'm planning to buy a hand wired replica from retroking and the Dyna Ranger.
As far as guitars, i like different ones(LP, SG, Strats, Tele) and i have 'em.
fredN71 3 years ago
Thanks a lot! This combo rules.
I plugged the Dyna Ranger into a 1970 Marshall 1987 50 watt head...and it sounded like ass. So this is the the way to go.
I'd make sure the Retroking is KT66 powered. That helps a lot.
You've got the guitar covered.
A tele would sound killer!
