For me Madonnas version is allways the original and best. When Madonna sings chorus it blows me out. The power makes me cry sometimes. And its rare for me!

well, i don't think it's a better or worse version, it's just different. madonna has a more feminine voice, susan's voice has richer overtones and "thicker" overtones. in her rendition, the song has a different touch and feel to it
This is way better than Madonna's version. Actually, it's so good that it seems as if the song was written just for her; because of her voice, her register, her beautiful natural vibrato and her story which fits perfectly with this song. I can only hope she will keep recording as many songs as she feels she wants to sing. BTW, she is awesome singing live. Easy to understand why Madonna didn't get her permission to perform this one on stage. She could own it at the first performance.

@andelotjura Oui c'est vrai la version originale est une merveille. Madona a de nombreuses années d'expérience dans la chanson ce qui n'est pas le cas de Susan et puis elles n'ont pas les mêmes voix non plus. Donc Susan a du mérite elle chante très bien.

much better than madonna, come on. strength of voice is always better. my guess is susan could sing it even more lightly, whereas madonna couldn't match the security and fermness of this voice.
honestly, after hearing this and going to madonna's version, i was actually afraid that madonna was losing her voice and catching breaths in her recording. stupid ofc, but says something

I feel that this version lacks the emotional rawness and depth that Madonna's version contained...and I really was really expecting this version to be better too, since she's generally known to be an outstanding singer...disappointing :(

well, i don't think it's a better or worse version, it's just different. madonna has a more feminine voice, susan's voice has richer overtones and "thicker" overtones. in her rendition, the song has a different touch and feel to it

This is way better than Madonna's version. Actually, it's so good that it seems as if the song was written just for her; because of her voice, her register, her beautiful natural vibrato and her story which fits perfectly with this song. I can only hope she will keep recording as many songs as she feels she wants to sing. BTW, she is awesome singing live. Easy to understand why Madonna didn't get her permission to perform this one on stage. She could own it at the first performance.

@andelotjura Oui c'est vrai la version originale est une merveille. Madona a de nombreuses années d'expérience dans la chanson ce qui n'est pas le cas de Susan et puis elles n'ont pas les mêmes voix non plus. Donc Susan a du mérite elle chante très bien.
