  • Nice place to open a Chip Shop

  • Origin:Pluvial Ice age lake dried up and flooded over repeatedly building up salts every time it dried. It is in the rain shadow of the Andes. For salt deposits like it but smaller; look at US Great Salt Lake, and Death Valley; the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea which has thousands of feet of salt deposited every time the Med Sea dried up; bottom of sea floor in Gulf of Mexico which has thousands of feet of salt from inland sea which repeatedly dried up +/- 165 million years ago then flooded

  • precioso el salar uyuni , soy cruceña y me encantaria conocer las bellezas que tenemos .que viva bolivia y los bolivianos !!!

  • Haha - I think Shirley MacLean must have lived there in a former life?

For me - when the simple & logical explanation works - I go with that one - instead of looking for a strange and unlikely one. Something called "Occam's Razor".

  • Million years ago, Uyuni was an icy salty moon from a far away planet called MinoTaur. Uyuni or Huyunious broke away from its orbit & traveled till it hit planet Earth. As it entered the atmosphere it was like a rain of salt hence forming the Salt Flats. Huyunious was similar to Saturn's mysteriuos geyser-spewing moon Enceladus.

  • Actually - it's just a dried up ocean bed... not an alien.

  • They say it is a former dry ocean. They also said the amazons were covered by ocean water just there is no salt there. Salt lake City has also salt flats but noone claims oceanic waters. Lake Poopo near Oruro Bolivia once was visited by a strage craft. Choro is the village, the place where the craft landed is round and has peculiar odor. My very own father visited that place, he said grass grows no more. Scientist dont care cuz it is a poor country.

  • I don't really think that because plants don't grow in salt - that it shows ET once lived there. As far as I know, plants don't grow in salt anywhere in the world.

  • Discovery of Salt on Saturn's Moon Enceladus <=== watch this NASA clip & see what you think
