This is one absolutely stunning fanfare. Whoever played principal trumpet on this one was amazing... If i could ride over an orchestra like he/she did, i'd die content :)
@28crucis You're right. From someone who could never hit the high notes, though I did play a mean 3rd or fourth trumpet. As far as death goes, hopefully it prefers the wind section.
The best homage to the forties (1940's) serials put to film to date. I wasn't around at the time, but I know enough about the period to pass judgement. When you attempt to moor a dirigible at the top of the Empire State Building in the first scene, it shows great context. The rest of the movie is in the same vein. It's all bluescreen (or the CGI equivalent). Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie do the best they can do without sets. A true test of any actor.
@TheGrayWolf96 They used the cheesiness to their advantage, which somehow made the cheesiness not the kind that you cringe at, but the kind that you cheer for
"TOTENKOPF (SATAN)" is the "AUTHOR" of all the "CROP FIELDS" as the "GOD OF EVIL", leaving "announcements" to render "tribute" and "acknowledgements" that represents marks of "a psychopath". To "WARN" of a "CRIME" and to
"RENDER TRIBUTE" and "REQUEST CRIMES" are different things. He must be building an "ARK" like the movie "SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WOLD OF TOMORROW" suggests.
for every one who said that this is cheesy its supposed to be . it's a tribute to 1930's science fiction stories

I LOVE this.

This movie was so underrated in my opinion. It was cheesy, but I think that was a strength rather than a weakness.

@theimpossiblers
That would be a very memorable day when a sequel is announced. Sadly, I don't think it will ever happen.

@AlanHollow Don't lose faith. If Steve Martin's Pink Panther could have a sequel, ANYthing's possible. :)

@theimpossiblers I really doubt that is going to happen this many years later.

Calling Sky Captain. Come in, Sky Captain. This is an emergency protocol.

I love the theme and the retro look of the movie.

@jag731 Edward Shearmur's score has absolutely nothing to do with David Arnold's work on ID4. Theres a decade between the two films.

Great opening. Too bad I couldn't have cranked up the sound when I first saw this in the theatre.

A great opening to a truly terrible film.

@HotBroodish that's wrong. That is a wrong opinion and you should be ashamed of yourself for having it.
