  • at 2:38 when he says James Jamerson, is that a sample of an actual song or just dedicating his playing style? because that riff sounds absolutely funky!

  • What would Robert Wilson say if he were here today?

    *Silence*

    LOL

  • Why Michael "Flea" Balzary isn't hear?!

  • @nZTheWolf1 Hey, IGNORAMUS, it's "HERE", not "HEAR"...

  • @djfakt lol sorry i didn't see.. XD

  • @djfakt

Youtube is available globally, did you ever think that the guy isn't a native english-speaker? Get a life.

  • Christian McBride, P-Nut, Robert DiLeo, and George Porter. Did I miss them? Otherwise, nice.

  • WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • john myung from dream theater is kick ass

  • please Good Lord forgive those who don't know who James Jamerson is

  • mr.wooten, sir you forgot to include leeland sclar, mike porcaro and tatsu sakurai

  • i'm hoping that you couldn't find a picture of Peter Cetera from Chicago and that's why is not in your collage of jammin' bass players. You shouldn't have any trouble finding any on the internet. Like to see you add one or two in there.

  • who is this

  • Who's doing the awesome rift at ~ 00:21 ??

  • Jeffry Dahmer played bass? 0:22

  • What is this song called?

  • @wolfboy12321 Bass Tribute

  • where's flea lol?

  • who is the guy in 2:49?

  • @vountourisjunior

    its john patitucci.

    great bass player.

  • Victor is my favorite bassist. That dude is just....I can't even comment how good he is. It;s too disrespectful.

  • Where did you get this song from?

  • haha marcus's face at 0:15:P

  • nicely done...

  • Nico Assunção the best of the world...he's from brazil!...Arthur Maia too....

  • 4:45 lol mark hoppus

  • The picture at 2:23 is the best. Jaco was the man!

  • I'm not a fan of V's singing but when I got hooked on his music in 2005 and I heard this song....I researched all the bassists Vic mentioned I could see how he sounds the way he sounds then the rabbit hole gets deeper the more I research each bass player :)

  • nico assunção for brazil???????????????

  • well done great tribute, sums it all up.rock on

  • Amazing song!!!

And about the discussion, there is no future without past.

But it doesnt mean the past cant be improved.

  • lol rocco

  • also, where in the world is wayman tisdale in either song?

  • i want someone to give me a list of all the people he mentions in the bass tribute reprise. i cant keep up after about 10 seconds haha

  • 1980triumph he says it himself, "everyone i owe it all to you" nuff said

  • It's ok Victor, they want the world to believe that Jaco was better than you, and that you owe it all to him, but don't worry some people know the truth

  • Add Tom Kennedy and Guillermo Vadalá ;)

  • did anyone else catch on that when they thank different bassists wooten plays in their specific trademark sound? thats incredible.

  • yeah dat was pretty awsome

  • @huginandmunin Yeah it sent chills up and down my spine when I first heard it.

  • @huginandmunin

mmmm yes, thats the whole point of the song...

but its not all Victor Playing

  • @huginandmunin I did catch it, but I actually think it was themselves who play it. For instance at 3:18 I can hear that it is Jaco who plays and not Victor making a cover of it. I'm 85% sure, because only Jaco has that mysterious tone when he plays that fretless ;)

  • @BassmrDK ;) not

  • @andreaaita Oh... It's neither Victor nor Jaco it's Steve Bailey ;)

  • Whats the song is it? mail please.

  • I just forgot the name of the song which marcus play at 3:30. Can someone write here the tittle of that (3:30) song ?

  • Vic Wooten is good and technical brilliant - but Jaco Pastorius is the man that changed everything in modern bassplaying forever... But a fine presentation of the big guns of modern bassplaying.

  • @Rasmarker I agree but i think Victor diserves more than "good and technical brilliant" he is a musical genius.. if you read his book "The Music Lesson" you will understand

  • I TIP MY HAT TO YOU!

Shiat guys - this is awesome!

  • you're great! very nice list of awesome bass players!!! i appreciate that you put also steve harris in the list,he's great... very beatiful list of the great soloist like marcus miller, alain caron, victor wooten, stanley clarke, john patitucci, michael manring, stu hamm ecc... great video!

  • and some how talentless pussycat dolls are better than this guy. its victor ppl!!

  • Wow this song is so good cant get enough of that jazzy funky goodness :D lol Loving the funky bass and guitar!!! I think the best best players were the ones around this era of music its where slap bass belongs adn its where it sounds best, I just wish there was more of this music about now i could dance to this all day!!!

Whats this song called could you tell me so i can try find it

  • its called bass tribute, as the title says

  • funky!!!!

  • what? no picture of Mr. Geddy Lee and don't say anything about Flea?

  • And what would Flea do in this song? He is just a flashy slapper, i would find insulting to have him in the same level Jaco is. Who did Flea influence? crappy rock bands? LOL.

  • If you read some of the most respetables magazines like bass player magazine, you will find that Flea is consider one of the bassist that change the way to see this beautiful instrument. Maybe you need to read a little more about bass player history. Not only the Genius like Jaco and Marcus will be in the list...people like Flea, Geddy and other guys are not genius but show the people to respect our instrument.

  • @fredolee16 yep. flea = when white guys figured out they could slap.

  • sorry, this song only talks about bassists that actually deserve it.

  • who is the man at 1.15?

  • if you mean the man also at 1:14 then I got no clue but if you mean the man also at 1:16 then it should be Francis Rocco Prestia

  • thanks. do you know wich bass he is using on picture at 1.16?

  • It is John Entwistle using his Status Graphite Buzzard bass, the company is out of business and the ENTIRE thing is made of graphite, and it has L.E.D. lights on the fret markers, they run for about 12 grand now

  • it is JOHN ENTWISTLE YOU IDIOTS!!!!! he was the bassist for THE WHO!!! he died in 2002

  • no need to use insulting words

  • oooops sorry you are all right, my fault I just took a short glimpse at the face and for me it looked familiar

  • All players are multi-style bass players. Flea is funk bassist, and i dont think that playing Punk Rock is hard to. I, myself dont know how to play on bass, but player from my band tellin the same thing. BTW: MAIN THEME IS GREAT FOR JAMMIN'!!!!

  • Pilchowski ROX ! !

  • no Flea? hm, wonder why?

  • oh yeah...sorry

  • yo u r so freakin stupid john enwistle was nice...u dnt kno nuthing

  • @iais82 ......get out ¬_¬

  • @iais82 John Entwistle sucks??!!!??!! your out of your fuckn mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thundefingers is awesome shit!!!!

  • lol they even put Cliff Burton on that song.

    Damn...miss cliff burton R.I.P

  • Mark Hoppus sucks

  • I enjoy Victor's work with the Flecktones, and he's a goldmine in terms of study material, but damn his songwriting makes me cringe.

  • Listen to some of his actual compositions, like 2 timers or left, right, and center

  • best song!!!!

  • Wojciech Pilichowski! POLSKA!!!

Uwielbiam ta piosenkę... Chwyta mocno za serce ;)

  • dduuuddeee why are these things always so cheesy

  • simply awsome my friend

  • the guy at 1:03 is Alain Caron with an FBass

  • Very nice vibe in this song!

  • great tribute

  • Who's the guy at 1:03 with the Curbow?

  • where is palladino, sting, white and edwards?

  • whos the guy at 0:10?

  • thiago espirito santo from brazil

  • Great song. But Jaco should be in the first place at the song, not Clarke.

  • great video how come mark hoppus is on there and someone like flea isnt?

  • Well its probably the ones that vic likes most or something

  • ahahahahah!!!!!

  • is there a list anwhere of all the bass players mentioned in this bass tribute and the reprise too?

  • search for the lyrics of this song

  • donr that long ago none of them have the names only the parts that are sung

  • whahaha!

don't they sing the names :S

  • nope they just list them loads of different bass players saying the names

  • Te lo has currado. Muy bien . Has metido a los mejores

  • Where is the Flea :'((

  • he only named his influences ;-)

  • I thought I'd heard a Victor Wooten song where the entire thing was just, like, a bassplayer name rap and I heard Flea. Is there another Vic song like that one?

  • yes, is the reprise from this song. look for bass tribute reprise

  • Thanks a lot man, I'll look for it!

  • you're welcome! gotta love the bass :)

  • great video. keep doin ur thing!

  • very nice

  • Nice job on the video. I was hoping to see Carl Radle of Derk & the Dominos (Layla album) and his tenure as Clapton's 1970's bass sideman. What a great blues bassist he was. We lost him here in Tulsa in 1980 and he was inducted nto the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2006. There is a Youtube video of that ceremony.... again. thanks!

  • i m sorry

  • Who are the other people singing? I think one of them is TM Stevens? Does anybody know?

  • At 0:07 Mark King looks like a happy child^^

  • Victor Wooten you know we love u too. :)

  • Thank to you Victor, U're one of greatest bass player in the world ( with Jaco of course) Thank a lot !

  • Not bad but I think Entwistle is the best bassist period.

  • 04:24 - Wojtek Pilichowski - my master and teacher - good job man :)

  • well in the album, Vic has another song that he mentioned all names that aren't in this song, he's such an humble guy :)

  • "Bass Tribute" by Victor Wooten. From his "Soul Circus" CD.

  • Thank you!!!!

  • What´s the name of the song?

  • Hello!

    How are you?

What is the title of the song? And the artist/band?

    Thank you in advance!

    Encer

  • It's called "Bass Tribute" by Victor Wooten.

  • JACO PASTORIUS.....THE GOD!!!

  • One of the dudes at the end of the song was playing a guitar! It was a british guitar lookin guitar.

  • no not at all

  • Where is Matt Freeman!??!?!?!?HE IS THE GREATEST!!!!

  • My beloved song, my beloved album, by favourite musician.

  • to clear some thins up about "why isnt he in there?" or "how could u forget blah blah blah", the song is based on vic's biggest playing influences, not just the best players in the world. more like the best players to vic.

  • I love he he hits everyones tones right on in the chorus!

  • steve harris baby! hehe.

great video. bass gods of the world united.

  • we need a picture of Mr. Geddy Lee

  • Paul Jackson!

  • GREAT SONG !!

  • John Deacon, you did not forget him! ;)

  • no. it's a marcus miller jazz bass

  • flea nor geddy lee deserve to be in the song.

both great players... but neither of them aided the development of the bass guitar as much as the other players mentioned

  • not flea, but geddy lee, yes.

  • Different folks different strokes dude.

  • omg great song.i love it.tanx 4 posting dude.

  • Where is NHOP?

  • that picture at 2.45 is my favourite because it gives a sense of freedom a metaphor if u will

  • That bass at 16 seconds... is that a daion performer?

  • fantastic!! but wheres GEDDY LEE?

  • Is it just me or does Tony Levin at 04:13 look just like Joe Zawinul?

  • It's just you.

  • Cliff Burton?!

  • What is the song ? I love it

  • Victor Wootn - Bass Tribute

  • can someone please tell me who the bassist is at 4:40 and what the hell is he playing

  • Jean Baudin

He is playing his 12 string bass.

He plays in a band called Nuclear rabbit

  • muy pero muy bueno el video realmente fue agradable ver a todos esos bajistas que marcaron la historia de la musica.

  • marcaron la historia de la musica...oh yeah

  • Flea is the hendrix of Bass? Come on get real. Hes an excellent player and is fun to watch but has he had the imact on bassists like JH had on guitarists? Jaco would deffinately be a contender for that title.

  • phil lesh?

  • you forgot john paul jones you bastard

  • he wasnt Good though, everyone knew that

  • nickisnotadick - you suck...you are musical amateur,if you claim this ...it is bullshit...I appreciate Victor Wooten, but Flea is great ,too...I m sure that Flea is much better than you and you know it

  • youre right!

  • abraham laboriel's picture is shown at 57 secs. i thought this tribute is excellant, sure there are a few bassist left off,but you can't possibly show them all in a couple minute song. i thought the selection was diverse.classic rock to metal, jazz to funk and string and stick players in between. there are a few i don't know of, maybe i should find out more about them?

  • you forgot Abraham Laboriel!

    Like the song much though!

  • missed out on an a key man. Mingus

  • yeah...sorry mingus ....lol

  • Flea is the Jimi Hendrix of bass and great showman

  • ah i dont know bout the flea bashen check out his older shit and i mean cmon he aint no wooten but he can hold his own without a F'n doubt

  • to nickisnotadick - you are wrong!!! Flea is one of the best bassplayers in the world...many of musicians appreciate him. He is the real "bandplayer"...no soloplayer.

  • flea sucks he's not a bassplayer.......anyways WOOTEN is a fuckin' genius!!!!!!!!!!!this song is beautiful!!!!!!!!THANK YOU WOOTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!i like so much when he imitates the pastorius' fretless.....

  • what about Rick James!!!, he's a bass player too, and he should be in this video.

  • Rick James bitch!
