I like 5. I can see most of the fretboard and see how you're picking with your right hand. With the closer angles, it wasn't immediately apparent as to what 4 fret box you were in (you didn't say, either). At least with angle 5, I can see where you are on the neck.
I think 4 and 5. Angle 4 is the best for the fretting hand. And angle 5 really helps you see the picking hand. Exactly what kdc300z said. I'd just like to emphasize that comment. Hah.
5 for me, the issue for me with 6 is that it can be hard to see which fingers are touching the strings due to the way there is no angle to judge depth! If you create an angle, then it becomes more clear, how far away your fingers are from the strings.
5 is clear, shows both hands & has enough angle to make it interesting to look at :)
I like the idea of 1 too, the problem with that is, i didn't notice the E string until you mentioned playing a note on the B! which i thought was the E string
If i were to improve 5 at all, i'd probably move the camera slightly higher so it was slightly above the fingerboard maybe? Or failing that, even just a little more level with the highest point of the fingerboard, somewhere around the 3rd fret say? I don't know for sure! I always get too annoyed messing around trying to set my camera up haha!
4 and 6 for picking, The most important thing is to name the string AND fret number. Then the camera angle is secondary. Its possible to block one finger with another no matter what the angle is.
One of the best angles I've ever seen is when the camera is over the top of the neck looking directly down with the guitar neck tilted up as if you were the guitarist playing the lick yourself. A student needs to see each finger clearly on each string without any other fingers obscuring one another. As far as this video is concerned, no.2 is quite clear and no.6 would be good if the camera zoomed in a little more. When you get a shot where no finger obscures another then I think you have it.
@PhilipPorter "I would prefer Angle 1 if it was turned anti-clockwise by 90°. Other than that angle 5." So simple answer is "FIVE". Come on people some common sense here..just a little. Help the guy out, he's taken the time to do this so give him a straight forward 1-7 answer. He doesn't need to know how much you would like corn flakes if they were green instead of wheat or if he did 2 backflips with a camera on angle 3 would suit you better.
i think angle 3 is good for showcasing fingering and angle 5 is good for showing what the right hand is doing. You can try using both to illustrate licks in the upcoming lessons. Hope my input is useful.
4 for the close-up view when you teach what notes to play, but I'd also like to see more of the guitar's neck. 5 and 6 for an overall view, and 5 for showing how to pick the individual strings(and use of hammer-ons and pull-offs)
2, 4 and 6 for me. 2 and 4 for a perfect view of the fretting hand, strings, frets etc and 6 for a good overall view of the fretting and picking hand.
Angle one makes it easier to see where you are actually putting your fingers...same goes for 2, 3, and 4. Angle 5 lets you see what fret you are on in that you see the 12th fret, but angle 5 makes it hard to see exactly where you are putting your fingers because your fingers are sometimes blocking it.
I like angle 1 and 4 and 5......love your videos man, i am mainly into bass but got an AMERICAN STANDARD STRAT and really want to get decent at it, again thanks for your GREAT licks as it inspires me to learn something on it, i mainly love blues.
1 is a similar angle to me looking at my guitar when working on form for a tricky lick, while 5 allows me to see your strumming hand to see your rhythm, or flow of your attack.
Thank you very much! 4 camera angle is best for me.

For me it's between 2 and 5. If I had to choose I would go with 5.
But If you can show 5 as the main video and 2 as a smaller video in the lower left corner I think that would be the best of both worlds.
