Filem ini ternyata menyesatkan kalau tidak dijelaskan perbuatan kiyai itu yang sememangnya memahami Islam dari sudut yang negatif. Ada penonton yang mengambil perbuatan itu adalah ciri seenar Islam. Ciri-ciri Islam pada kiyai itu langsung tidak ada. Berbeza dengan ciri-ciri seorang kiyai dalam Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 2 yang ternyata amat positif dan penyayang terhadap anak perempuannya Anna Althafunnisa.
