And I'm not trying to piss all over the little girl parade here (I'm not R. Kelly), I just don't like the idea of teaching them to reverse gender inequality rather than correct it.
Only critique of this video I can offer is the ending - "we're girls, we'll do what's right for us" just sounds ominous to anybody with a penis. Imagine that in the context of any other group. Imagine any other group or demographic telling you with a straight face that "we're going to do what's right for US".
It's kind of fucked. Why not "we'll do what's right"? What's right for girls can be awful for everybody else in a few important situations like divorce, custody, assault charges.
@rantazz23 they made almost every show ment for children have some sort of moral message quota that they have to meet for the network. this didaway with the need of these psas every single comercial break. they are still run ocasinaly just for whatever reson
@RoastedToad In junior high one time i was on the bus, and this dumb bitch rolled up some big poster she'd made for a project, and put it to my ear, and was like screaming into it. I obviously threatened to take it and throw it out the window, to which she replied "If you touch it, I'll say you tried to rape me". To this day it just makes me so mad. She would like spit food and shit into my hair and stuff too, man i wasn't even the nerdy kid, but i couldnt do anything cuz she was a chick.
@RoastedToad guys just cant sit back and let girls be proud of being girls...why do you have to ruin it. clearly this is made because girls have a lot of issues and pressures. and you're not helping.
guys have them too. find those videos and comment.
On of these girls looks like a girl i know from my school. A 99.8% look a like. and one of you people are saying this from a decade year old, wow im in shock
I'm all for girls playing sports, but "We will not let boys have all the sports" unintentionally inspires jealousy for the boys playing school sports that don't have girl teams. School administrators have the authority to open programs for female students, not male students at the school, so why should they be treated like they stole the sports programs? A good message would inspire the audience to talk to the school about getting more programs.
Omg this commercial just played right now! So I was like OH SHIT then saw the "Concerned Children's Advertisers" now I'm watching them all lol. I remember my brother made fun of me for this one lol.
wel i know i'm ripping the audio from this and putting on my ipod. no, i'm serious. pressure is so bad for girls right now, and it just keeps getting worse and worse. so it wouldnt hurt to keep this audio as a little reminder.
And men should be out fighting the war and sacrificing themselves to save our country. MEN should be leaders, MEN should respect women, as that is how it should be, yes?
So, as a man (I'm presuming) why aren't YOU fighting for our country and respecting women? I say this because a such a sexist human as you probably hasn't had the attention of a woman in years.
Your point is moot, go back to your couch, maybe I'll make you dinner and iron your shirts.
I don't see anything wrong with this commercial. I watched it when I was young, and it inspired me to not let my gender determine the limits of my future, or who I am, or fall into society's pressure on who I should be.
lol nah, i was just wondering how this psa may have helped in your development from childhood into adulthood. You said your self that it helped teach you to not let ur gender determine ur limits so i was just wondering is all. I myself have a learning disabilty, but am not leting it slow me down. I am attending community college and will hope to graduate pretty soon.
Ahh, I see. Lol, it's just hard to tell who is actually being serious in their comments.
I'm currently in uni. I think that is a big step for me because not only am I the first in the family to go, but I'm also a Chinese girl. Most traditional Asian people think men are smarter, more discipline, etc. So I feel pretty good making it this far especially when most people from my own culture would doubt me.
And good job for you! It's nice to hear such inspirational stories like that. Keep it up.
Yeah this commercial just made me hate girls more when i was in the whole girls have cooties stage i was like "WTF WHY DONT GUYS HAVE A COMMERCIAL ZOMFG"
"Yeah this commercial just made me hate girls more when i was in the whole girls have cooties stage i was like "WTF WHY DONT GUYS HAVE A COMMERCIAL ZOMFG""
On the contrary, there were quite a few commercials about guys. They showed how hard it was to be a young boy because they are also pressured into doing "cool guy things". For example, "knock on wood" and "bundle up" were focused more towards boys. At the end of the commercial, they would say something like "Boy, it's not easy being one." :P
Haha yeah that was past my time though well most of them... The only one i remember was the knocking on the door thing and thought wtf why is it hard to be a boy? When i clearly understood the pro girl commercial.
This is a guy bashing commercial. That's what it sounds like.
