  • Im sick as well... BUDDIES

  • Yay I'm sick too! Sick Buddies. :]

  • I found out why it didn't find anything. The file was in fact created, it just didn't show up in the search because it's an empty file.

So if you're using a Mac, and wonder why a Finder search doesn't find your file, it's because it's empty.

  • Doesn't work for me. It tells me that the file is created, however when I search for the file it doesn't find anything. I'm using a Mac.

Can anybody help me with this?

  • made a infinite txt file generator.

     bad move

  • could you create a java class file with the code to create another java class file with the code to create another java class file? Fileception O_o

  • package file; import java.util.*; public class File { public static void main(String[] args) { final Formatter x; try{ x=new Formatter("c:\\dnai.txt"); System.out.println("yes"); } catch(Exception e){ System.out.println("no"); } } } NOT WORKING Y?????????????///
  • @4:15 Haha, he said crested. . .See i made fun of him :)

  • Please Read!

Formatter has a risk of deleting the contents of your previous file too!!

e :- if you already have a fred.txt in you directory, then all its contents will be formatted!

so always give a new file name :-)

  • make infinite for loop

    get infinite txt files

  • i love your tutorials man, i have learned a lot from you and i am the best student of gramming in class now, i love you man

  • :D

  • you crested a file

  • Goodl..

  • bucky you dont need to tell in every video to subscribe.. every youtuber that went so far with your tuts is definitely a loyal follower of yours!!!

  • lol@ Try and catch you later :)

  • I'm confused. Is your name Greg or Bucky? Or Fred?

  • @DrizztII His real name is greg his internet name is Bucky

  • Rofl, "They just had to name it exception cuz they had to be different..."

  • After, having tried to expand my program beyond the very basic stuff you showed us in this tutorial, I have come to find that the Formatter utility is pretty bad... You cannot use it to append to files that already exist. You can't even write multiple lines with it. I found the FileReader and FileWriter utilities much more adept at manipulating and reading files.

  • Make fun of me bid deal "Ok", you crested a file :D

  • hear al those grass hoppers, are you casting fom your backyard or something like that? sorry for any broken english btw.

  • lol my teacher makes ur videos part of our curriculum.

  • EVERYONE THAT IS USING MAC OR LINUX

if you want to make a universal directory that anyone can use use this $USER

what I mean is normally you would do User/alec/Desktop <---- but this doesnt work for anyone else unless there login is alec type it like this User/$USER/Desktop

thumbs this up so others can see

  • btw, just something, the last video said you can not create files with java.io.File, well, wrong.

    if(!(file.exists()){file.createNewFile();}

  • LOL @"to create that file where you want it, like in a folder or something..." 5:30 xD

  • Every time i try to find some Java help

    Nothing works but you :-)

  • YEAH! CREST THOSE FILES BUCKY!!! WHOO!! YOU ROCK SIR!!

  • so can you make a folder for the file???

  • Why not use :

    x.createNewFile() ?

  • how do you access the error text when you get an exception?

  • "If a user tries to divide by 0"

There is no error for that... The consequence is only death. And possibly the end of the world.

  • @jakeywakey27 It does throw an exception, and there is something to catch it.

  • The grass hoppers and crickets were really helpful also! lol

  • why does this seem soo much harder than c

there u have FILE* , fopen, fwrite, fread, fseek and all the rest are pretty much needless why does java have so much stuff

anyway that's just my opinion and it comes from a guy that the first semester of programming in java couldn't even understand it (even the simplest programs)XD

    great videos btw ;)

  • What did I just heard @ 1:20???

"I'll give you guys a quick one too..."

  • This didn't work right for me. It created a new file, but if i ran the program again it didn't print out the error. Why is that? In on Ubuntu.

  • @mihek If you run it again, it basically replaces the file again. Check the Date Modified on the file, it would have changed.

  • They named them exceptions because they're not the same as errors. Errors refer to things like failures caused by running out of memory or a hard disk malfunction. Exceptions are things like trying to run a method on a null object.

  • crested AHAHHA

  • They named them Exceptions because the name is longer!, and sound more fancy.

  • awesome world of warcraft and age of empires 3 good taste in games!

  • bucky have one or two huge enemies ... they always vote negative ... tell us who is that and we will take care of them :)

  • @Sighduf Probbaly some real cocky pro-programmers who're jealous that they don't got the fame!

  • He knows hot to make a programming exciting!

  • Hey how can you make it so it comes up with a box to tell you where to save it?

  • @mangopearandapples JFileChooser from Swing

  • thanx Bucky you save my ass again

  • thanks for teaches of how to CREST a file. Next time teach us how to CREATE a file

  • video is not working,

    please refresh video...

  • sounds dirty....crested...

  • just my 2cents:

    System.err.println();

is useful for printing errors in your catch exception.

ie. you can ouput errors eventually to error.log and System.out.println() to output.log

  • hey idiot input a letter not a number lol

  • @naxjud, you stole my comment. Now what am I going to say?

    BUCKY RULES!!!

  • everytime trying to ask question i didn't get what am asking i just need more assistance in this site

  • thx a lot bucky good stuff !

however and error and an exception are not the same things for java - exceptions can be handled - and errors cant (at least not really properly)

  • thanks for showing us how to crest a file.

    lol

    :-)

  • Bucky pwns

  • thnx a ton :)..keep them coming plzzz

  • Ahhh! thanks for the exception preview Boss. I'm getting better with mine. Now I made my own exception and all but now I get a section does not throw and exception error message when I compile. I eagerly await your exception tutorial. Thanks

  • I learn more from you than i do from my 10th grade computer science teacher. You are the reason i have an A in that class!

    Cheers!

  • @mcgarrybd Congrats for going the extra mile

  • @mcgarrybd You're learning java in Grade 10...?
