That is why the GT40 swept LeMans in 67 and won 3 years in a row, something my beloved Grand Sports never could do.
With a normally aspirated 427 and a 4 speed the GT40 turned over 225 MPH way back when...that is why Ford brought back this retro supercar in its current form.
A current GT with the right gearing and powertrain would do just as well as the Vipers and Vettes...they are great cars that are too expensive up front which is why they are largely ignored.
Well it won it 4 years not 3. And at the time the Ford gt put down better times then the z06 and viper and both still don't have the top speed of a GT.

There probably is but I don't see what the point would be over twin turbos...with dual twin screws you would get so much low end torque that you would just spin the wheels for days in the low end whereas a turbo setup would provide max power when the tires can handle it.

I live in Orange County Ca. I have a neighbor who has a saleen S7 TT 07' with a few after markets and he also has a Z06 with turbos. The S7 was a lot of money but it was money well spent. The Z06 is probably the fastest thing under 95K but it lacks the quality of the others. My 06' GT is up for Hennesy turbos and a dyno this month. I am so excited! Finally I will be able beat both is cars.
Don't get me wrong I like the Z06 it is an economy-super car. But I think it is fun on the track only. It just seems kind of cheaply made and rattles and has a lot of road noise so I don't like to drive them around for a car.
Anything is better than a Mustang LOL. I agree with the fact that the Corvette fo rthe money is one of the top supper cars. I am not able to afford as of yet an S7 but you have to agree with this. The '09 Corvette will put the FGT against the wall. It will still be cheaper, and the displacement will give it a lot more to work with.

The '09 Corvette will put the FGT against the wall. It will still be cheaper, and the displacement will give it a lot more to work with.

If he ran in the 9s he would have beat his dial-in and lost the race. He dialed in a time of 10:22 and got a 10:48, pretty damm fast for a car that's built for the track (not the strip). It's a bracket race, not a pure drag.

no they are not slicks if you go to streetfire net you will see Joes gt40 documentary.. they dont make slicks for this car because they wont fit in the wheel well... and i think this was tuned at the time around 800 whl HP..and yes he bogged the launch better launch would put him in high 9's..

Like I said the FGT is a great car.But since they do not make it any more there are going to be a lot of "what if's".Now the new Vette is coming with a 6.3 with a SC and its going to be 650 HP thats only a .9 diff and 100 more horse power.I think once everything is said and done the Vette will still be on top, but again the FGT once in a life time car.Lets keep up to see what happens with the new Vette.

LOL OK OK.I agree with you I think the FGT is not only a great car, and yet still has a lot of untapped potential.Yet I think we have to give the new Vette a chance and see what it is capable of if it doesn't come close to the FGT I'll be the fist to admit my wrongs.Lets just keep rooting for American muscle, we are on the map now and see what those Euro fags and ricer bitches have to say.

Man that car is beautiful. I don't know how you are running a 10.48 in a twin turbo that is pathetic man, ive been running 10's in my 86' mustang since i was 16. Come on man step it up with all that hp. I know 10s are scary at first but once u hit the 9s, 10s seem almost slow.

The two step comment was geared around the slow 60foot which I feel is more so due to leaving without boost and the terrible power curve caused by the use of the shortrunner intake manifold on this particular application than just meerely a lack of traction. I should have been quite a bit clearer, I guess.
