please dont buy this im not a troll or anything but i mean you can get a LTD mh-50 with floyd rose for 250 bucks or well a ec-50 for the same price and if you want a explorer shaped guitar buy a js32 dinky or a LTD EX-50 they all sound emazing and are way bette than the epiphone special series the ltd 50 series are only 50 bucks more expensive but sound way better and look amazing.i just bought a mh50 with a floyd it is awesome and it is only 250 bucks!
my mom said that if i graduated out of high school in the top 5% i would get the explorer gt after i graduated college. thats so stupid though cause i dont think that achievement should be awarded with that shit maybe graduating middle school. at least and epiphone explorer goth, i mean common all of friends got $600 guitars their sophmore year of high school and arent even in the top 40%
@valdivia562 wow, that sucks...i graduated from 8th grade in the top percent of our class (2nd place...) and I got an Epiphone 1958 Goth Explorer ($400) as my first electric guitar, along with the Fender Mustang I ($100).
@valdivia562 well, try to argue with your mom about why you should get a better electric guitar. if you're into metal, i say go ltd ex-360; the only reason i didn't get that is because i had a $500 budget (not including tax and warranty), and the ex-360 is $600. I've heard good things about it, though.
@Metalhead121396 well, i was supposed to get a dean zero or a gibson explorer at that time. its to late to get anything now, i dont have time to play now that im in college
i like the explorer coas its smaller and easier to carry around, and looks cool-- o and for you guitarists out there that love to piss people off, take it everywhere you go (if you watch deathkolck i started doing it coas of skwisgaar) and play it (get the little battery amp thing that sticks in the bottom of your guitar--with some LOUD headphones) you can really piss your teachers off to... ust for you metal heads still stuck in school coas your not old enough to drop out yet...
@TheMasterOfPuppets78 GOTHIC, GOTHIC, GOTHIC! Lol, I am actually buying one for $350 and have already tested in out in advance. It has the body of a regular Explorer, sounds VERY, VERY good for music like Metallica and plays very well for small solos (I haven't tried it out for a solo like the one in "One"). Definitely worth it if you like Heavy Metal.
ive got the special 2 gt it doesent stay in tune when i use the whammy bar especially the g and b string, when i dump the bar and return it the string ends up in a higher pitch? any ideas on how to cure this???
um... the killswitch wasn't invented by epiphone. the one that epiphone uses on these guitars is called "kill pot" and its made by shadow electronics. just a little fyi
@THE76OHCREW It wasn't made by anyone, many guitarists years ago purposely would have a pickup channel with the volume on zero and switch channels rapidly to get a killswitch effect, these people have just innovated on this idea.
@Needleskaine quite so. =) one advantage of this is that you can have mid tone, or switch your tone back and forth while playing, and still be able to killswitch. =D
Hi, was thinking about getting this guitar as i am moving away from my other guitar and was wondering its not to small is it? cos i like this size of my guitar now (Squire Strat) will they be in similar size
is it a good idea to upgrade to this after 9 months of playing from my squier bullet stratocaster, i just dont like the squier very much but i think i would like this blease reply
@andrewds98 That's way up to you..But as you know, The gothic has the same pickups as the Special II $169.00 and the Special II gt $199.99.. 700t and 650R. But, checkout GuitarFetish. Their LesPauls are better sounding and they look almost exactly like Epiphone's Slash signature. and some say it sounds better. I wont' tell you more....see for yourself buddy..haha
is it a good idea to upgrade to this after 9 months of playing from my squier bullet stratocaster, i just dont like the squier very much but i think i would like this blease reply
@maxmetal14 A guitar with active emg's would be good, Epiphone pretty recently introduced the prophecy series, and they have quite a few nice guitars, they go for about $500-800, or you can just look at whatever suits you with emgs
ahhh you know why they put the kill switch in, it was because on most epi you can mute one pickup as you have 2 volume pots (like sg, les) and the selector switch worked very well as a kill switch, as proved by randy rhodes. since this only has master volume and tone they had to put it in.
ok i just got this guitar but i got a problem and maybe you can help me... i live out of the USA and i cant find a hardcase that fits this guitar on the internet. please if anyone knows of some case please let me know. thanks :)
@skllz415 depends what dinky .... the cheap ass JS series are about equal quality. but the higher end dinkys are better. more or les for metal. of coarse you can play any style of music on any guitar, dinkys have a thinner neck and hotter pups for metal, rather than a les paul with its thicker neck ( whitch i like ) and slightly less hot pups
And What About the balance of the Explorer Gt ? A smaller body logically means a weight loss, so Is there anybody here to tell me if when you're wearing a strap, does the headstock fall down ?
is the explorer THAT small? I don't want a really small guitar but I can't tell by the picture. I would like it a little small but i don't want it like half the size of my stratocaster. can someone please respond.
@R4ND0MREVIEW5 stock r very close to EMG's or Duncans lots of people buy an epiphone if they cant afford a gibson but epiphones pickups r very very very very very very very very very same to gibsons
I think he's talking about having it on the tone pot, but that also isn't original either, they're made by Shadow Electronics and there are definitely guitars by other companies that have it. And you can just buy the tonepot/killswitch on its own
@DGKALLDAYskater It's 200 dollars at Guitar Center. If you ask a local guitar store that's not a big chain I'm sure they can give you a better price. Guitar Center is good for finding guitars and they're prices so you can haggle with smaller stores. :P
I've had my Epiphone Explorer GT for about a week now, and I must say I'm very happy with it. The flat black color gives it such a nice finish, and the stock pickups are indeed high output. This is a great guitar for starters!
