  • ubuntu is probably great if your a programmer or something but if not its not nearly as easy to use and understand as osx

  • is this an old version of ubuntu because my option in the begining are different plus i cant figure out how to install with the version im using

  • @danielmbcutler Its the version that was released in september 2010... i'm sure Ubuntu was updated few times since then. so yes, maybe the installation is different.

type in youtube "How to install linux"... and use my video to create the partition to install Linux on.

  • Ubuntu is a lot faster than os x, e.g. On the old mb airs

  • Why would you want ubuntu on a mac? OSX is like 10x better.

  • @exeonarch Because Ubuntu is much more customizable if you know how to use it. I use Mac OS X, Fedora, and Windows 7. I prefer Fedora over Mac OS X.

  • it works on os x lion?

  • @remolanoa I don't own Lion so I don't know, but i'm pretty sure it should work.

  • @remolanoa No.

  • What is this song! It's sweet!

  • Mac is much better than Ubuntu in my opinion. But Windows has some advatages as well. Mac is my favorite OS.

  • You an idiot.

  • @shanecbryson Thanks.

  • Whenever I try this instead of giving me a start up screen ubuntu loads then goes straight to a command line screen. What can I do?

  • Can you rename it from Windows?

  • how can you do this with lion?

  • do you have to reinstall snow leopard???

  • Can I put it on a bootable USB?

  • @Stuff4YourMac Yes. More complicated than CD burning but easily done with terminal commands. Go on the ubuntu website to find out how

  • Will this kill my Mac?

  • @boogiebuddy01 sure, you can. i don't think that its makes the computer slow, you should try

  • All works. Only when I want to write with the keyboard nothing happens but there stay it's connected and I must fill in a pin which I can't without a keyboard. Can anyone help me please?

  • AWESOME! Thanks! I hope its still this easy with Lion...

  • i downloaded ubuntu and now i have the iso on my desktop ive tried to burn this in everyway possible and its not being recognized by my mac book pro how do i burn this so its bootable

  • @eg7737 Use disk utility. Drag and drop the iso into disk utility, select it, and press 'burn' at the top of the window. This should allow the Mac to boot from the disk.

  • How did you get the drivers for Ubuntu??

  • How can you do this with lion? I do not understand?

  • @WakkoXtreme i don't know because i don't own Apple Airport, but if Magic Mouse worked perfectly i guess Airport should too.

  • @WakkoXtreme Sure, why not?

  • Instead of burning ubuntu.iso to a cd can i burn it to a dvd?

  • @Jollygeniusman yes...

  • Thanks! So helpful!

  • @jlubi3jpl you welcome :)

  • this is my dream...Ubuntu on a Macbook...yeah

  • what is the minimum amount of space needed for linux when partitioning the disk?

  • @whiffing1 depends of the version. check system requirements to know how much.

  • Hey can you do a mac tutorial on how to install openttd? (Transport Tycoon Deluxe) Keep up the great work!

  • Does this work with Fedora 16 as well?

  • over 30,000 views :D never thought i get that much for 1 video.... thank you guys!

Do you think I should start uploading Mac games (downloads) and tutorials again?

  • Would this be too much for a macbook air?

  • @DrHookManagerMan No, Ubuntu is a very light operating system. You can also try the Notebook Ubuntu version

  • Love it !! What is the name of the second song ? awesome !!

  • @figoyouwei Desert Dual by MysteryGuitarMan, Remixed by LeviDoron (Youtube channels)

  • what if u have usb?

  • The first song is pretty nice, dude. ;)

  • How do I download the ubuntu on a usb stick? The directions on the ubuntu website are to advanced for me!

  • @oliversgrn if so, then linux is to advanced to you.

  • @eirikol1... I lol'ed

  • @eirikol1 (y) ...I bet you feel proud with your ubuntu knowledge

  • I tried and the boot camp assistant says that I can't divide the disc because there are some documents that can't be removed. What should I do?

  • @Gustavoornelas1 format your drive.

  • or you could use vmware fusion, i have it and it runs very fast

  • Wait.....that song is a Remix of Bowl Beat for MysteryGuitarMan, right?

  • @romshua actually its like 4 songs... the first one is a Remix of Bowl Beat, yea.

  • any way of doing it with out a cd

  • @Armaangandevia1 u can do it with an usb stick

  • Comment removed

  • When i do the thing in boot camp it doesnt allow me to it says i need to do some other things

  • Im guessing you did not need to install any device drivers to get the Blutooth mouse and keyboard working

  • @FAKEBC I don't remember that i had problem with it... the keyboard defiantly worked but i don't remember if i switched to normal mouse or not...

  • Why doesn't Apple let you install non-Windows OS's so easily? If they are letting you install their biggest competing OS why not let all the rest in?

  • @OmRiWoLF I followed all instructions but when I selected windows on startup I waited and it showed the first black screen with white letters and then it ran the disk drive for awhile and now the screen is black what should i do?

  • thums up for music!!!

  • Hi there, I didn't spot where you decided to put the Boot Loader. Where do you put it so it doesn't interfere with bootCamp?

  • @garmit61 I don't. after I create the partition with Boot Camp I just quit Boot Camp (cmd+q), restart the computer and hold option (alt) and the boot loader will open...

  • @OmRiWoLF Thanks for that. I can't seem to get Bootcamp to set up though. When I start the assistant it asks me to either download extra software or load my OSX startup disk but then tells me "The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows.". My Macbook Pro has a single disk with two Mac partitions and nothing else. Do you know how I get it to allow me to adjust/create the partition for linux?

  • @garmit61 You can create another partition manually too... insert your Mac OS X disc, restart your computer, while in the white screen press option and choose the disc. then open disk utility and create another partition...

  • I am not see CD in the white screen

  • What is the name of the last song!!!!!!!

  • @qqcolaman MysteryGuitarMan song by LeviDoron :P

  • @Martinezjoelbachmann In some cases, if you don't have it installed properly, linux will not be able to connect to your wifi interface.

  • Which version of the installation CD do I need? TCan I use the 64bit (AMD64) one? (Thats what I normally use). Or do I need a specific mac optimised one?

  • @wdrpsp19 There is no Mac optimized Ubuntu version (as far as I know). Just use the normal version, you can download it from their site.

  • Will this make me able to run games trough Wine?

  • @Nielstm25 You can run wine in OS X so if that's what you want, all you need to do just google Wine for OSX.

  • all asking about 32 vs 64 bit. The answer is simple. 64 will be faster and 32 will support all software. Choose 64 bit and install software to let you run 32 bit binaries. A quick google search will give you more info.

  • I have a 2010 mac book pro with 2.4 Ghz Core 2 processer, should I use the 32 or 64 bit version?

  • I ahve a 2010 macbook pro, should I install the 32 bit or 64 bit version?

  • @madTVwatcher2 Which ever you have, they both work great!

  • So if I click install 'Side by side' it will NOT mess up any of my mac files or the mac OSX? Like, I can run Linux but when I go back to Mac OSX it will be like nothing has changed (Except for the hard drive size)?

  • @OutlawLovesNewVegas Yes. Boot Camp does not affect the OSX partition (except its size).

  • @OmRiWoLF I have a 500gb HDD, so I can run Windows 7 and Ubuntu if I have enough room to partition without risking erasing my files? Cool.

  • @Martinezjoelbachmann if you are running snow leopard linux doesnt recognize it yet

  • @Martinezjoelbachmann Man I really don't know what's the problem I installed Linux just for the tutorial...

  • @OmRiWoLF great.

  • I'm giving Linux another go after falling in love with it on VirtualBox, though my luck last time wasn't great at all. Here's hoping I won't get the "unable to find a medium containing a live file system" message again.

  • @Martinezjoelbachmann Sure, you need to insert your Mac OS X Installation Disk, restart, press option (alt) during the white screen when you start your computer, and then press on the disk.

Then use disk utility to delete the linux partitation.

maybe i'll do a tutrial of how to do this.

  • @OmRiWoLF Please do, it would be greatly appreciated mate :)

  • got a question.... um after you make the partition.... you put the disk in first then restart rite?... and when u boot up into the partition, the disk is immdiately read, and Ubuntu will allow you to put it side by side automatically?

  • @SuryaBakshi Yes, that's right.

  • @Martinezjoelbachmann Every time you want to switch between Mac and Linux OSes.

  • Thats one trippy ass song.... o.0

  • I did everything in this video but damn when I restart my computer I can't choose the usual "Macintosh HD". All I see is the "Windows" where is located Ubuntu. so... I think I lost all my files... oh and I don't have my version of snow Leopard with me and I don't know how to recover my files under Ubuntu. I think I'm screwed...Anyone know what to do?

  • @DJExelBee Sorry I don't know :/

Did you back up your Mac before that happend?

And if your warranty is still on you can visit the Apple store and ask there...

  • po atirei o pau no gato final na musica foi muito engracado uahauhauhauhauha

  • Thanks for the tutorial, and also LMAO at the MysteryGuitarman music, nice choice.

  • @Chintendoeddman Haha, thank you :)

  • get ultimate edition that one sucks

  • do you know how to install ubuntu 10.10 like this? because they have a completely different install interface.

  • @FreddyFreeds Go into the manual partitioning options, select the windows partition and click modify, check the format box for the WINDOWS partition and set the mounting point to / and that's all there is to it.

it WILL complain about there being no swap space but just don't care...

  • hey..do i need to install refit first before doing any steps??

  • Hey how do you do this for ubuntu 10.10? because they completely changed the layout of the install window

  • Hi dude great video ...

anyone knows what should i do if after i restart and press option key i don't see the bootcamp partition in options?, i see only the Macintosh HD drive , i have a macbook pro with mac os x 10.5.8 .... please help :-) thanks

  • I don't suppose you would know how to get Quake 2 to run on Ubuntu 10.04?

  • @felixduhcat89 Sorry, I'm not using Linux so I don't know.

  • @OmRiWoLF y would u make this if u didnt use lunix

  • @collindiekvoss Because I made it to help people including my friends... :)

  • @felixduhcat89 Easiest way:

    Open the Ubuntu Software Center

    Search for Open Arena

    Install it.

Open Arena is a free clone of Quake, so it is close enough. I think Quake has a linux version, but I am not sure

  • Can all Linux (mint) do this too? And how many partitions can you make from your Mac?

  • @ZetaSimsoy You can make like 16 partitions using Disk Utility.

  • Nice effects.

  • @kaiostudio Thanks :)

  • Thanks! I had some problems in the burning but it worked at the end.
