I remember watching this. Was a student back then. Good times. It was good to be in your early twenties in the mid-nineties. Im still listening to the same bands today! Always loved blur.
@thebobbseytwins Oh I get your a woman, now I see. Men are NOT like that, at least not real men, and as a man thinking about how georgeous you are have 3 explanations 1. you are gay 2. wanna-be metrosexual 3. ego trip
its not all about perfect singing and it sounding like a polished cd, its about live performance and the energy they have, try doing a two hour set at glasto two hours of singing is hard. for anyone
Sounds like he's talking, shouting, singing karaoke. Crap live performance from Damon and was I the only one who noticed all he did was shout at Glasters?
you must be a yank if you dont like this music.. or a gangsta! this is true british music.. tihs is alot better than all the shit music in the charts nowadays
Mate, I'm no Yank and I despise hip hop / rap and the shit its causing in our society. I love Blur, just not this performance that's all. In fact, this is my fave Blur song.
i hate to break it to you, but damon albarn is into hip hop, the good kind, i hate reminding people that there is good hip hop too. you say it like there is no such thing as shit rock music. love blur
@JDA315 Well said, look at Gorillaz. Very influenced by Underground and 90's Golden era Hip-Hop. J5, De, Krs, ATCQ, MF Doom, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Pete Rock etc. All fantastic Hip-Hop artists that don't go on about money and women like too many mainstream Rap does.
Come on, if you were to judge Rock by what was in the mainstream you'd have people thinking Lady Gaga was.
Yank? Come on...I'm a fucking "Yank" and I love Blur! Just about 98 percent of the music I listen to and love comes out of England and all around Europe. Fucking stereotypes.
Im scottish and i cant stand bloody stereotypes, like one american said that if i actually wear a kilt for everyday use and i was like...get a grip son haha.
I don't think this is ABOUT morrissey even though he makes references to his music, i've heard it is about brett anderson because he had dated justine frischmann before damon did
This song is about Justine Frischmann's brother. It is well know that she comes from a very wealthy family, and her brother is a banker, or something like that.
I knew Blur were out first with There's No Other Way in 91, But they only came big in 95 along with Oasis - every interview blur had in 98 and 2000 with Think Tank they always talked about britpop and Oasis - hence why I said they are only famous for being in a battle with Oasis! mind u music back then was better than Bloc Party, Keane shit now , Cast and that were brill in 90's.
This is the first time I've seen this since I was 12 when it was first aired back in 1996. TFI Friday was so exciting and obviously the bands were much better back then. Now we're lumbered with crappy corporate sponsored music programes like T-Mobile Music with The Klaxons. What a load of shit.
Dont you think that they all look younger, i mean damon here was 28 years old, and to me he looks like a 23 year old guy or something like that

This song has eery similarities to that of Boogie Shoes by KC and the Sunshine Band , yet i have never heard of such a court case.
Meanwhile the Stones can find scant similarities with Bittersweet Symphony.
Maybe KC have less stingy legal eagles ( or vultures in the Stone's case)

I see the Blur VS Oasis thing still gets to people here lol The Charlatans beat them both.
reniisgod 3 years ago
i think it's about himself
Damon's professed that most of the songs on the album were more or less about himself
maybe all the facts of the songs aren't about himself 'exactly'
but he may have viewed himself as rather charmless....
but who knows...and who cares
it's a catchy tune - and that's all i really care about.....
plop.

Nope, Morrissey. One strong hint is the line "I think he'd like to have been Ronnie Kray". Morrissey notoriously sent a bouquet to kray's funeral.
