A few years back I was having problems on bench, because I was doing things wrong like what Barthel pointed out that many people do, my elbow were high up and straight out, and I wasn't bringing the bar down below my chest. About a year ago I was working with a trainer and he fixed my form mistakes, and everything he taught me was 100% the same as what JR just explained.

what you're really doing it a close grip bench, which will put a lot of the weight onto the tri's as you're saying, but to stress the chest more, you do need to widen the grip, preferably so that your elbows do not go below the bench at the bottom.
if you feel shoulder pain its because you arent pinning your shoulder blades together for the bench press. also not bringing the bar down to the nipple line but more higer up nearer to the neck.

I am 6'5" and 208 lbs. and I am looking to get up to around 240-250 by next April. Should I throw out some carbs for a few weeks and then go back into it?
I never do flat bench I find it doesn't really do anything for me, Incline and declines are the only one's I do and my chest is pretty developed.

isnt it better to lock out? cause you have a longer distance to push and when you go down its slightly longer to,
i personally always lock out until i start to get tired then i finish the rest of my reps with partial movements.

Nice video JR. I agree with you, different people have different positions in which they feel their chest working more. I myself am a really bad barbell bench presser I gotta say. I prefer the Dumbbells because I can concentrate more on the chest but still experimenting with different positioning to get mine right. On the Jay Cutler note. Well Jay is amazing but I'd like Branch Warren to win this year to say the truth, love his intensity in training and he is my favorite IFFB Pro Bodybuilder
