I believe Mr. Rowe underplayed his role a trifle. I see the teenager Holmes as a rebellious teenager who realizes he is more intelligent and gifted than most adults, and so he should be played with more bite. Just my opinion.
By the way, the room they created with the glass and Rote(sp) iron work is a place I could study/read in the rest of my life. Lovely. I want one! You think it would fit on my trailer? lololol
What was the prize for finding the trophy? :: Is the fencing master Morierty? He wants Holmes out of there for a reason. .I don't understand the reason for him marking Holmes tho'. Well, give it a minute. I wonder how much material the author of Harry Potter got from this movie. Down to the kid with the ash blond hair. :)
nicholas rowe does an AMAZING job playing holmes! he delivers the dialogue PERFECTLY! i think that is what makes the movie that much more interesting. it keeps you captivated, wanting to know what else he has to say :)
@MikadoOkami It is. I saw him on Broadway playing Guildenstern (or Rosencrantz) with Ralph Fiennes as Hamlet. I managed to get Mr. Rowe's autograph on my video copy of this movie and I remember his look of surprise when I handed it to him.
@Songsmirth Yes, Mr. Fiennes was brilliant as Hamlet, one of the best I'd ever seen. But I wanted Mr. Rowe's autograph, not his, since I'm not an ardent fan of Mr. Fiennes's. Don't misunderstand; I admire his talent. I'm just not a thrilled fangirl like others. Besides, there was no getting near him after his performances in "Hamlet" while Mr. Rowe was more easily accessible.
@QueenBoadicea I know exactly what you mean about not being an ardent fan. I appreciate the work of some of these actors but I'm not nuts over them. Like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. And I had to smile at your honestly saying Mr. Rowe was more easily accessable. :) You know if I wanted anything from someone I respect, I'd like to have them put their hand down on a page and trace it. Might sound silly but it would somehow be more personal to me.

I thought Lestrade would be as old as Holmes and Watson, probably a few years older, but not the inspector yet.

The young boy they have doing Holmes is very good. He reminds me of what I picture a young Holmes being.
