  • Amazing video.. im sorry about the discriminating comments.. my video about Queen Anne Marie's daughter Princess Alexia, gets terribly thrown under the fire.... i dont even know what to do but stand by and be proud of what i did accomplish :)

  • 1) The people have to support a Monarch for the monarchy to work.

    2) Many countries have had fine non-native monarchs (as well as bad).

    3) Modern monarchs are basically symbols of unity and culture, as most have no poltical power.

    4) Constantine's biggest mistake was trying too hard to be a political King. He should have just been a figurehead and let the the politicians screw up, which they did after he was overthrown.

    5) Sadly, people get the government they deserve.

  • @IstvanN1961 Regarding your statement that people get the government they deserve:

Indeed, but they have the option not to vote for the same government again, should it prove unsatisfactory.

Interestingly, monarchy proved successful in Britain, because the British nation evolved around monarchs.

You can also say that people get the kind of monarch they deserve. The British proved that to be the case - e.g. most spectacularly with Charles I, and James II!

  • Once a queen of the Hellenes, always a queen of the Hellenes. Greece would be better off under a monarchy. When they got rid of it they did one of the more stupid things in its history.

  • @bawlmerbuoy1 people who support the monarchy are just old and tired our problem was joining the E U or as I would put it the I O U

  • After what the "democrats" of Greece have done to Greece, I think the King's return would be infinetely more desirable than the "democrat" thieves Greece has in power now.

  • @jjgreek1 the real thieves are the royal family and Its called Identity theft BTW Old people care about the passe monarchy

  • i hope Greece restores its monarchy and refuse the invasion of EU technocrats who did nothing but suck Greek's wealth. Greece needs to restore their constitutional monarchy in order to save the Greek national identity and heritage and to protect Greeks from political parties that serve only the banks and EU technocrats.

Our King Consort and HM Queen Elizabeth II's husband, Prince Philip is the former Prince of Greece and Denmark :)

In Greece, he was known as Prince Philippos :)

  • @BritainiaNumberOne I hate to disappoint you regarding the Duke of Edinburgh. He most emphatically stated that he never considered himself Greek in a BBC1 programme, titled Prince Philip at 90, that was aired in June 2011.

He has no memories from Greece, and can not speak or understand Greek. He was rushed out of Greece as a baby with his mother after his father narrowly escaped the firing squad for high treason.

Greeks wouldn't have heard of him had he not been E's husband.

  • @BritainiaNumberOne I refer you to the Duke's BBC interview (9/6/11) where he stated that neither he is nor he ever felt Greek. He also spoke in the same way when asked whether he identified himself with Britain. He was amused by the question and his answer was that he always felt that he was a member of the Danish race. The title of the BBC programme was "Prince Philip at 90".

  • @ceasar70alexander Hilarious indeed! But have no fear because De Grecia is here! So, don't let the few who did not even contribute towards his ousting 44 years ago, interfere with your cottaging activities!

  • Furthermore, OUR Greek Royal Family can call themselves whatever they choose and they do so under your nose, right there in OUR Greece! Oh YES, in THEIR HOMELAND GREECE!!! Like it or not, Greece is their homeland and there is nothing that you can do - yes you mousmoulo - to change that... get it???!!!

  • @EllinikiKardoula Greece is not "yours" and you aren't hers from what I gather. But the circus is all "yours" and "yours" alone wherever you are, since the Greeks wouldn't touch it even with a lavatory brush. You got a winner there cheeky! You lucky sly thing you!

  • @EllinikiKardoula When I was in Athens a few months ago there was an impersonator of the de Grecia man on one of the Greek TV channels. Having watched a number of de Grecia's interviews on British TV, I felt that no Greek comedian or impersonator can beat reality - besides if they manage to get the original to sign a contract to just be himself, it would be much cheaper for the interested parties. He didn't make it as a Danish king in Greece; but he could make it as a Danish joke!

  • I seem to remember that the Greeks sought out a king amongst the northern European royal families whose family ties and political connections would help ensure that Greek independence would last in the face of continued Ottoman opposition. BTW Constantine is descended from three Byzantine Imperial lineages.

  • my comment below was a reply for @titusmountjoy - up here does not make any sense - my apologies

  • Bigotry prevails among the Greeks.

  • This is a joke. Greece will never have a king.

  • Thanks for choosing the right title! It is amazing how many former "Royals" forget to put "former" in their titles. Really, thanks! I appreciate it very much.

  • My God, who decided about the music? A trivial song for ignorant tourists and then a Greek national anthem cover, sung by a choir of women . It really takes a lot of effort to achieve such a distasteful and obscene compilation...

  • The Greeks should restore democracy by bringing back their King and Queen for a starters.

  • @comtedetancarville Restore democracy? LOL More democratic country than the birth place of democracy cant exist, you can go out and break and burn cars and the cops wont even touch a hair from your head.. Human rights you see, try doing that anywhere else, the cops will shoot at you ;) Besides we have 300 useless dogs running our glorious fatherland which we feed them a large sum, we dont need an extra two useless corpses to feed, we are trying to get rid of the 300 as it is.

  • @comtedetancarville Oh and "our" King and Queen are not even Greek, they dont have 1 Greek gene in their entire pile of cells comprised around their axial and appendicular skeletons.. If we are to feed foreigner "rulers" lol, Id rather have Monica Bellucci as the Queen of Greece, shes Italian theres gotta be Greek blood in her, she can give us all oral sex, thus giving a reason for the tax payer to continue paying taxes, everyones satisfied, ans she is doing a great service to the fatherland.

  • @comtedetancarville Bottom line is the individuals in the video you see are foreigners, leeches, basicaly, that sucked our blood 100 years now. They had no problem leading us into the civil war to keep getting fat and gresey, with our money, paid vacations, golden spoons, look at what their wear, all payed by our taxes, the taxes of an exausted from wars, broke ass poor public. What is funny is that these foreign subhumans, consider them sevles superior, of blue blood.. LOL Ever taken Anatomy?

  • Greece a democracy? Don't make me laugh. The most corrupt nation in the EU whose government has all but bankrupted it. More fool the Germans for bailing Greece out.

  • @titusmountjoy

Tolkien was inspired by us when he wrote about the Uruk-khai. Beware...

  • which germans? the ones who massacred 60,000 men, women & children during the german/nazi occupation of Greece? same germans/nazis who completely destroyed at least 460 villages? burned the homes to the ground? coldly executed innocent villagers, even after a wedding celebration - of course there is not enough space to list the killings and the stealilng - these sub-humans do not bail anyone...they have to PAY for what the've done first! - Laugh as much as you want - ignorance is bliss!!!

  • @Ikariada A german and a nazi are not the same thing. The reason Greece is in such a terrible shape economically has nothing to do with anything that may have happened over sixty years ago. More the fact that the Greek government lived well beyond its means on credit and now expects the EU to bail it out yet AGAIN! Perhaps dealing with corruption and a bit of fiscal responsibility would make a good start.

  • The danish family who lived for more than 150 years by taking advantage of the greek people. Go to hell, that's is what you deserve, here in Greece we have democracy.

  • anaclet: it is a golden cage, with responsibilities, some people take the duties well, like anne-marie, while some in Denmark simply abuse it, with 20 washrooms and millions of deficit.

  • Greece isn´t the KING OR QUEEN. Greece is a REPUBLIQUE!!!!!!

  • it's all quite silly....REALLY

  • Para mí, encarnan el matrimonio perfecto. Eran tan jóvenes y bellos. Y tan felices.

  • @birdonet - They may embody the perfect marriage for you amigo, but we do not choose to elect our leaders on that basis. We choose to do it as they do it in the US, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy etc ... in a democratic fashion.

Why don't you have a go at them?

  • Oh dear, there is no such thing as 'former' Queen. It's not like Presidents or Prime Ministers. Once a Queen, always Queen.

  • @anaclet - Re: "Once a Queen always a Queen"

The Degretsias can call themselves what ever they choose, as long as they do so as far away from our country as possible.

Our decision is final. Madame Degretsia hardly lived in Greece and we have no negative opinion of her. However, Kokos and the old German rug Frederika were lucky to get away so lightly inspite of all the intrigues. There was a time in July 1974 when they would have been lynched had they been around.

  • @tzanabetys No darling, you are wrong. You can call Her Majesty Anne-Marie whatever insulting word you may possibly chose. But once soneone is born to be a King or Queen, he or she will remain a King or Queen to the very end of their existences. It has nothing to do with Greece. It has to do with Nobility. Peace.

  • @anaclet - Re: "It has to do with nobility":

It has to do with mindless worship and the need for some people to be subservient. These are the most basic ingredients that keep dictators in place. Who decides that someone born with delusions of grandeur is "nobler" than someone else?

During the Dark Ages they would claim to be God's instrument on earth. Now, the handful of them still around, play at being the servants of their people. Well, we have no vacancies here.

  • @tzanabetys Oh the same old speech! It seems the leftists can never update that. It's so sad to see the inability to understand that nature is not fair and that there are some substantial differences among human beings. Sure, they are all human beings. But some, by grace of God, are born Noble. Others, they simply aren't. There is nothing wrong with that. It is just how it is, has always been, and will always be. Men are NOT equal. That's just a figure of speech. Peace.

  • @anaclet - You will find that early kingship was based on meritocracy rather than "noble birth". How can one define the latter? I understand that the ousted shah of Iran came from a landless family who made their living as shepherds. His father worked his way from a private soldier upwards in the army. He killed his way to the top and seized the opportunity, with a little help from you-khow-who emerging as a shah. His son in the 1970s went as far as to claim descent from Cyrus. Is this noble?

  • @sylviaphryne Listen, my dear child. I am not talking about Kings and Queens. I am talking about people who are Noble at heart. - because they are born that way and who are given education that will enhance and refine their natural tendencies for benevolent altruism and dedication to the cause of his or her Nation. I am talking about persons who become King by grace of God, not by the force or arms. Do you see the difference? Peace!

  • @anaclet - Do you think that Napoleon was nobler than the average General in the French army? As a young lieutenant he ended up serving in the least noble arm of the army - the artilery - since the cavalry was out of his league owing to his social rank.

What about Jean-Bédel Bokassa who, like Napoleon, crowned himself an emperor.

Or, the Saudi kings and the like? If you see nobility there, surely the word must mean something else to you.

  • @sylviaphryne Oh my dear little Sylvia! We couldn't agree more! You are so right! You gave a few excellent examples of commoners who abused the people's trust and subverted the natural order of things. Napoleon, Bokassa and so many others crowned themselves - how laughable - emperors! Just to be ousted from the stolen throne some time later. That's not the case of the Greek royal family. Nobles from the Danish dynasty were invited to occupy a vacant throne by the Greek people.

  • @anaclet - I could, ofcourse, have given as an example the noble emperor Hirohito who sanctioned the arrest of all European women, including nuns and Embassy staff and forced them to work in brothels for Japanese soldiers during WW2, and used POWs as slave labour till they were dead, who escaped being hanged for crimes against humanity by a mere technicality.

Or, perhaps, emperor Constantine who killed his sister, brother-in-law, and their children. He is now a Christian saint.

  • @sylviaphryne Oh my goodness! Hiroito was a God, he was more than noble. He was well above all those matters that, as sad as they were, were put into action by a system, not by a single man - or by a single God for that matter. Yet, what do you say abut the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York by the hands of the US government? You are talking about all the bad examples. Try to focus on the advantages of the Monarchy over the Republic and you will see what's the best form of goverment.

  • @anaclet - The nobility of Leopold II of Belgium acquired him a status shared by Hitler, Stalin, Justinian and other mass murderers. With his private army of adventurers turned the whole population of Congo into slave labour working for him. Children were amputated in order to punish parents who were not working hard enough. Fifty years later his noble relative, Baudouin, praised Leopold's actions and orchestrated the murder of the first democratically elected PM of Congo.

  • @sylviaphryne Oh my dear child! No, no, no! Read it carefully. It's a very common mistake to blame the Europeans for slavery. Yet it was a widespread practice in Africa well before the arrival of the first Portuguese and Spanish navigators on the turn of the XVth century. And it still is practiced in some regions. Yet I agree with you that it was not the best of all attitudes for Europe to take advantage of that shameful situaion.

  • @anaclet - The ancient Greeks made a distinction between νόμος and φύσις. Would you allow a dentist drill your tooth and give you a filling if he told you that he is a dentist by right just because his father was a dentist? Someone needs to be trained as a dentist, in the same way that someone needs to be trained as a politician. The results of Amalia's interference with government affairs, as well as well as Constantine I's, before becoming a king, and Frederika's later, highlight the problem.

  • @sylviaphryne You are very right my dear Sylvia. But, as the Latins used to say, Quandoque bonus, dormitat Homeus. That is to say, even if you have the geatest of them all, the best of all dentists, he may make a mistake, as any human being. But, pay attention my dear child, Don't let appearances fool yourself. Nobility is not job. It's not a profession you learn in a few years in a school. Nobiliy, and the duties that come along with it, are a task for a whole life. Nobility is sacrifice.

  • @anaclet - In saying what I said, while I approve of monarchy or not, I accept that there are rotten monarchs like Hirohito, Leopold II, and Baudouin, in the same way that there can be rotten democratically elected heads of state. Anne-Marie appears to be a kind person. Inpite of how Greeks feel about the Glücksburg family, nothing bad was ever expressed about her. She has a kind φύσις - unlike Frederika, George II, and Constantine I.

  • @sylviaphryne Yes, my dear Sylvia, we can only hope and pray for the restauration of the Monarchy in the Noble soil of Greece, for the salvation of the Greek people and for a proper rule of law and economics. It's seems republic has only brought the Greek state to the brinks of bankrupcy. God save the King!

  • @anaclet - Don't put words in my mouth. Where did I use insulting words for her? She is hardly known in Greece. Soon after she came here, her husband created a situation that made it imposible to tolerate them any longer. Not even the junta that he contributed towards bringing to power needed his services in the end. Charles I, of Britain, was decapitated for less. His communication with the junta from abroad, offering his unconditional services is extremely well documented. This is treason.

  • @tzanabetys Well, it seems that it is YOU who's putting words in my mouth! When did I say you were insulting Her Majesty? I said that you "can". I didn't say you did it. Please reffer to my comment for clarification. And if Queen Anne-Marie is hardly know in Greece.. Oh poor ignorant Greece! Don't put the blame of the Greek people's ignorance on such a noble and innocent Queen. At least spare her of that one more insult!

  • @tzanabetys were you born at that time? and if yes, how old were you? I don't suppose you are told the whole truth

  • @tzanabetys

A re mousmoulo mathe istoria kai meta mila - get your facts straight and then talk. If the Royal Family had returned to Greece in 1974 Constantine Karamanlis - the TRAITOR - O ΑΡΧΙΠΡΟΔΟΤΗΣ - would have never become President ! Greece would have embraced Constantine as King of the Hellenes! Kalomeleta ki erxetai...

  • @EllinikiKardoula "mathe istoria ...etc...etc" An overpowering argument; and one that is frequently put forward every expert who studied Greek telephone directories inside out in the 1950s - those that passed Degretsia's mother censorship that is.

Άλα το!

  • @tzanabetys Νευράκια η θειούλα ε?

  • Furthermore, OUR Greek Royal Family can call themselves whatever they choose and they so under your nose, right there in OUR Greece! Oh YES, in THEIR HOMELAND GREECE!!! Like it or not, Greece is their homeland and there is nothing that you can do - yes you mousmoulo - to change that... get it???!!!

  • @EllinikiKardoula "OUR"? So, you are many! Fascinating! If you were not incontinent geriatrics, and could find about half a dozen more IQ70 supporters, you could have formed a footbal team - the Degretsinis. Get it?x3+!x3

  • @EllinikiKardoula Ofcourse they can call themselves whatever they choose. They can call themselves, quite suitably, σκατόφατσες if it pleases them, something that nobody would challenge - unless ofcourse it is a title you wish to reserve for yourself.

  • I think anne marie is happier now with her new found liberty, instead of being cossted in a golden cage.

  • @astridbelge It's not a golden cage, darling. Once you're born a Noble you know the heavy duties you have to carry on, no matter what. Nobility is sacrifice.

  • @anaclet - Re: "Nobility is sacrifice":

And mindless worship is a mental disorder.

At any rate. We do not mind them being "noble" or feeling the need to sacrifice themselves - as long as they do it in the country where they came from. They lived on and off about 90 years in our country, never accepting the fact that they were not wanted. Their short stay here is but a drop in the ocean in terms of Greek history. Ask yourself why Queen Elizabeth does not inspire such a revulsion.

  • @tzanabetys Oh you are very right, my dear Tzana! At last! Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is adored and worshiped by her subjects not only in our beloved Britain but also all over the five continents! No wonder, she's really adorable! Born to be Queen, with such a Noble soul! But of couse, Her Majesty would be nothing were it not for her people who love, understand and support her! The mission of the people is to help and support its Ruler. If not, the road to tyranny and destruction is paved.

  • Its great that these people are not even greek

    Malaka

  • prince michael of greece is very talented, wrote highly competent historical novels

  • @IsisTiamat

    she looks like romy schneider

  • @astridbelge - Romy Schneider was Jewish.

  • Comment removed

  • She is a great lady and Greece owes to her a lot. She did much more for Greece and the Greeks that the political dinayties that led the country into bankruptcy. During the Monarchy Greece's GDP grew more than 7% yearly !!! Now the situations unfortunatelly is well known...

  • We are the nation that invented democracy. The right of people to elect their leaders. We do not recognize as leader a person not elected, royalties were forced to Greece by Germany and we kicked them back there.

  • @frfino my "friend" of course we do know of the facts that you mention but you'd better read history more carefully.. dont forget that only recently we managed to pay back the loans we got from England during their "help" to fight the Turks.. we are the only European country that did not get paid from the Germans for the word war II. Also we did pay them 80 Billions for broken submarines and when we refused to accept them, they did not gave us our money back...

  • All this years we were FORCED to buy weapons and air fighters from France with the poor excuse of the Turks and their hostility towards us. We are forsed to sent military forces abroad to support American wars, costing us billions of euros and this is only a few things that i remember. Current situation is not only our responsibility but EU's too, dot forget that.

  • @frfino Our politicians should be executed under Acropolis like Marie-Antoinette but......On the other hand we had the right to VOTE for them or against them. Democracy is not the problem in this. It is a mistake to blame a constitution for human mistakes and abuses.

  • @frfino Right! Greek republicans always blame the foreighners for their crimes!

  • @nantiageorge

Rubbish. The Greek dynasty was Danish in origin and arrived in Greece, by invitation of the Greeks, in the middle of the 19th century. King Constantine and his family have never lived in Germany.

One of the most unpleasant aspects of Greek republicanism is the way it constantly uses racist and xenophobic abuse to attack the former King. Maybe some of the people in the country that invented democracy should grow up a little

  • @rightmoment You are ubsolutely right ! The Greek republicans are among the nastiest in the world. They are biased and insult all the royalists. It is not surprising that Greece has been declined so much under the republican governments. The leftist establishment has left Greece in an environment of hatred and bigotry.

  • @rightmoment - They were not given their marching orders because they were Daninsh, German, or Mexican. They were never wanted and they had always been a divisive force since they set foot on Greek soil. Every generation of Greeks, since their arrival from hell, has suffered as a result of their interference with our national affairs.

If old porkchops had any dignity he would at least shut up. In two years he abolished democracy and actively facilitated the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

  • @rightmoment - Yes, exactly because of that. Because our ancestors invented democracy - a fact forgotten by many generations for many centuries during which very few people knew how to read or write. We were just what this Danish scum needed in the way they found us after our liberationf from the Turks and the Bavarians. We do not want now, or ever wanted, sultans, Turkish or Danish. Nothing to do with racism - unless you choose to see it as such in order to cloud the issue.

  • she really is divine!! thank you for your comments for our Queen!!
