  • can u please make a vidio on doubling tires/ also when u pre bend ur frame do u torch cut them or heat up the frame and pound it down

  • @littlebuckhc We have done both for notching. It all depends on the car and your setup really.

  • @DemolitionMissions ok i could do both with my set up witch is quicker of better do u find.

  • @littlebuckhc Depends what car it is. Hit me up on my facebook fan page. The link is posted on this youtube channels main home page.

  • one comment, and im sure you have heard it before. why the hell would you give away your tricks? granted, all that i have seen you post, we did 30 yrs ago. but, we didnt share secrets then, and dont share them now. and all we do is legal in the rules..........

  • @tank5081d Because this sport isnt what it used to be 30 years ago. Now there is so much money involved in the top drivers, that new people need help getting started in the sport. I don't give away everything I do, but some stuff I want others to know. If we don't help the younger drivers then this sport will DIE.

  • @DemolitionMissions pretty much the same, other than spending big bucks, if you find that necessary. as far as the sport dying, not gonna happen till theres no longer cars avaliable. i suppose its time for old school to make a comeback. see ya on the track at Jay County

  • @tank5081d Should be a good hard fought derby if everything comes that i've been hearing about so far.

  • @DemolitionMissions i agree, im a new driver (as of next year i will be racing every race i can), and THANK YOU for these videos that help me. :)

  • @tank5081d i actually disagree to this statement, im 15, my dads been racing for 20 years, i can race next year, i thank drivers like this that help me get prepared and gimme tips and trick for my first car next year.

  • @ranger2hpking rite on. glad to hear it. but i doubt your dad wants all his tips and tricks shared. each has their own way of setting up a car. your dad has 20 yrs under his belt driving, must know what he doin. thats your teacher

  • Thats dirty pool LOL

  • Removing the front brake prevents a bent rim from hitting the caliper as more hits are taken on that side, relieves ball joint stress too.

  • I use a jig saw and 1 inch olfa knife to remove most of the bead on the inner tire as I find 14" tires fit well inside of most 15" and can be stuffed inside by one person. I then use tubes and put 45 psi pressure. Ran a set 6 times and only had to replace two tubes. I also remove the passenger side front brake and crimp the line. I make sure the others function properly. I also swap the rear shoes to have better stopping in reverse, to avoid door hits.

  • in platte county where i live we cant double the tires

  • just wondering what kind of psi you run in the doubles, do you run the max pressure of the inside tire, a little less or a little more?

  • @78willoughby I run standard tire psi in them, because inside the doubles is a tire tube, too much pressure and I might blow the tube.

  • thanks for the video i wondered how people did that.

  • Bias tires are the best way to go. I use one strap and make it like a banana and take the other strap and have wrapped around both tires so that it's pulling the tire inside of the other one.

  • I always cut the bead off of the inside tire then stuff it inside the good tire with a bar and a baby sledge. I havent had any problems with stuffed tires on only 1 set of beads

  • try welding some scrap steel around tthe valve stems on the tires.. helps from gettin them cut off

  • i run #9 wire around the inside of the outer tire 3-4 strands

  • you tired unmounting stuffed tires from a rim? i've got a set thats stuffed but the rims got bent last derby. wondering how much of a pain its gonna be to unmount and put them on new rims. we just had a tire shop do it before but they went out of business so now i gotta do it myself...lol

  • @DerbyDriver20 It can be done, it just takes some time and cussing.

  • @DerbyDriver20 one bead at a time is the easiest lol...but seriously one bead at a time when removing them

  • I use a portable 12 volt 1000 lb. winch from harbor frieght. To squeeze the inner tire. Alot easier. But it will cut though rottien tires.

  • How did you do Mitch?

  • if i wanted to get some mud tires where would you recommend i look?

  • @493jake Mechanic or tire shops.

  • If your derby is tonight good luck hope bandit motorsports finish 1,2,3!!!!

  • i've always put a flap of 4-8 plies on the outside, that way the inner tire wont break the bead, i'll make a video of my derby car after its first derby, it looks the same as when we took it up there!

  • Anit your derby tonight demolitionmissons

  • danm, you gonna need some strong straps for the second direction squeeze

hey, would it help if the tires are warmed up to make the rubber more plyable?, yes i know they have steel in them

a load of lube will help too,

once inside i bet its 5 times as hard to get the tyre back out !!!!!!!!

    great info

  • @messylaura just seen a tire doubling machine on youtube, 5 second job !!!!!!!!!!!

not sure how to add the link so

    search 'tire doubling' by 6666Dietmar

bet you could make a redneck version of this

  • @messylaura yeah I set mine out in the sun for a couple of hours if not a day during the summer. Easier to work with then. Also for the outer tire I put bars opening it up and leave it like that for a couple of days till I put the other one in.

  • Anit your derby tomorrow night?

  • After I watched this i pulled my front tires and took em to the shop but when i used a tire two sizes smaller now that outside tire has a gap between it and the inside tire. I like the second one i did better that i just went one size down but that shit was a real pain in the ass so im runnin the way theyre set right now,

  • Are those mud tires Nancos?

  • @kgilroy25 Power Kings. 8 ply thick.

  • @DemolitionMissions What size inner tires?

  • @kgilroy25 Those were 7.00 - 15 mud tires, with 215/75 R15 tires inside.

  • whe have the same car as our school race car if were to use the car for the track ill use slicks or in the offroad ill get knobby tires

  • the way we do ours is take your strap and put it around the circumfrance and tightin. make the tire into a C or U shape. and continue doin that until its small enough to work with..Good Luck this weekend

  • hey i noticed that you have a window bar this year, if you run 2 of them in a triangle it will help the dash not fold up...just an idea for next year(or this year if you have time/the rules allow)

  • hey cool thanks for the info on how to do it man it be cool if u can run dubled tires on every day cars lol but thats cool

  • I need to do that to my compacts tires been running just regular tires no tubes but I'm unable to find a tire that will fit inside the existing tires I haven now so I'll be looking for a set of mud 13's.

  • i had no idea,.,,,cool man,.

  • to get even a better seal put tar around the bead and then in flate. And if your rules allow self tapping screws through the rim into the bead will also help. the self tapping screws also works for making a studed tire, but if the rules won't allow studded tires you can also make a lug tire by cutting the tread.

  • lol try to balance those

  • Awesome! I always wondered about this...very informative and will be using this for upcoming derbies!
