Humming All the way to Reno You've dusted the non believers And challenge the laws of chance Now, sweet You were so sugar sweet You may as well have 'kick me' Fastened on your sleeve You know what you are You're gonna be a star. You know what you are You're gonna be a star
THE PERFECT VERSION OF THIS SONG. You can actually hear Peter's guitar throughout the whole song + I like the faster tempo vs the CD track. Yet another R.E.M. song (particularly from 97 to 04) that sounds way better live. I want this on my Reveal CD!
Well, Peter (the guitarist) is playing a Gretsch Tenessian. Mike (the Bassist) is playing a Fender, i think jazzmaster. Not to sure about the bass, though.
A song that suggests much more than it REVEALS. An example of an anthem whose stature expands in meaning/impact with repeated listens & the luxury of time. An ethereal, semi-comforting, soaring allegory. While Hollywood, New York or Las Vegas would be the typical Title destinations for so many writers relating a tale of the intentions, hopes & aspirations of so many artists, performers, gamblers or dreamers; REM spins the palette by staging the apologue in "The Biggest Little City in America.
The REM Collective Imagination; imprecise,wandering,multi-themed. Prospective apprehension of an untested individual riding the Interstate on a second hand tour bus, awaiting the first trial of their talents in a Northern Nevada Lounge...or a long, tortuous, languid Airline flight; anticipating union with your karmic soul-mate in a discounted but decent Hotel Room subsidized by lost wages & diminished dreams. A rendezvous that mere geography, time or personal circumstance can prevent any longer.
This is the only video I've seen where both top comments are actually great, meaningful responses instead of cheap jokes or one-liners.

The high register of Michael at the end made him smile. It´s the highest of all this gig.
Since I bought the DVD I'm inlove with the girl in 2.19!!!
Amazing song.

I've been wondering if Peter really likes to play this song, or Stipe was just being factious.

I feel so so horribly guilty... I despised Reveal when it came out. I wanted nothing to do with it.
This song has proven that it has grown legs.
hehe.. and go ahead and throw stones.. I'm a big fan of Around the Sun. Go figure.

I think the uni-brow was either consciously or sub-consciously about Bill Berry....
hey Bill, how 'bout at least being open to touring the US man?! Around the time the hay dries or something??
(No offence Mr. Rieflin...(I also like quite a few Ministry tunes...))
