Well you know how you time your chord 1+2+3+4+1+2+3+4+.

numbers being downstokes pluses being upstrokes right?

So a push is when you're in the middle of 1 chord 1+2+3+4...

but instead of playing the next chord After the fourth upstroke you interrupt the chord On that upstroke.

So instead of A+2+3+4+D+2.....

It's actually A+2+3+4D(specific pattern)

Same thing with split measures

A+2D(specific pattern)
