In Australia there are sharks, but if you dont do nothing to them it wont happened nothing to you. Only if there are great white sharks. They only bite you couse they wanna see what are you, couse they dont have hands to toutch only a mouth full of thousands of teeth :) but sometimes the sharks attack couse they thing you are a seal beacause of the wetsuit etccc.... xD but try it out!!!

@reneeanne5 depends where you surf. typically SA, WA, and VIC have more shark attacks then QLD or NSW.
