As a computer scientist who definitely could make this program, I can guarantee you it would take longer than 30 minutes.

Nah... 30 Min at max for me. I would just take few minor preliminary steps. Using WindowFromPoint(), Mouse_Event(), a little coding for reading the image (Probably GetPixel() using the Desktop Device Context), 30 minutes of coding, and you are done. So, your guarantee is flawed. What programming environment would you use?

I think the part that would take the longest is mapping the color palette. The pixel and mouse events would be pretty simple. I've never done something like this but I'd probably use C++'s DDC like you mentioned.

Hmm, now that I think about it, you wouldn't have to map the color palette--you could pop it open and look for a similar color with GetPixel.

In any case, I'd still be pretty impressed if someone could pull this off in half an hour.

It doesn't matter if he/she fakes it or not, the painting looks pixelated to me. When you don't actually draw it yourself it loses a lot of the character that would normally be there, plus people can replay the painting and see.

Edit: Shit, compiled it, but I can't get it to work. Whenever I hit command, with the default image or one I change it to my mouse just wiggles a few centimeters constantly without ever doing anything. I have to alt-F4 to get out. Can anyone post some rough instructions or something?

ya i get the same shit, i think i know why, since facebook changed the layout, the sidebar is further to the right, the code needs to be re-written to adapt to the changes! if you look in the video the facebook logo is perfectly aligned with the top left corner of the sidebar, when I compiled the program, there was a big white space filling that area

Use this program instead... It is a bit more user friendly, however it does take a LONG LONG time depending on how many colors you have and how big the image is (long time = 24 hours or more).
