  • defintily a bug/moth thing :)

  • I can confirm it, as a rather rare but beautiful humming hawk moth

  • Damnit where's my pokedex....

  • If you pause at 0:21. It's a bug.

  • There are a few different names, look up Hawk Moth.

  • imagine the noise that would make when you hit it with a news paper!

  • pshhhhh ppl r stoopid... its obviously not a pokemon....... ITS MOTHMAN

  • when i was visiting rome i saw plenty of those at roma termini and thought i was crazy because i know that there are no hummingbirds in rome...when we asked some people (obviously junkies) they just said: papillon. we tried to catch one for about two hours at night but they were too fast.

  • Its a humming bird moth. I've seen two in my life. great little insects.

  • Whoops you did it again! amazing creature, hun! Another name for the moth: Hermans Thisbe, a midsummer night dream . . .

  • i just found out, this moth is called "hummingbird hawk-moth", since it's so simmilar to the ummingbird!

  • i loved the comments all put a bit of a smile and giggle on my face :D. Back to serous mode: a bird cannot have antenna and more than 2 legs so it's a type of moth...probably. Moths are fuzzy and their wings are smaller compared to their bodies. It;s a moth i often times tried to catch with my bare hands. I did manage to catch it once but i was affraid i would squish it or it would sting or something so it slipped right away.

  • bug

  • I had two of these in the yard over the summer! I tried to catch one so I could look at it better. I came close, but I never got it. It kept circling my house and the neighbors house for the morning glories that close up at dusk. It wanted dinner.

  • bug

  • It's a hawk moth for three reasons. 1. because it is , 2. it has antennae 3. last time I checked baby hummingbirds can't fly

  • I saw one this summer for the first time. I was like wtf.

  • I would think the antennae would give away that this is a moth

  • it's amazing! so cute

  • This is probably going to sound very mean, but EW :( What if I found one and thought it was a hummingbird, and it touched me? Ughh I dislike bugs

  • Ladew Gardens in Harford County MD has a lot of them in the hummingbird gardens, ditto for Irvine Nature Center. One buzzed me on our patio near our humming bird garden in Lutherville MD. They like Milkweed pollen. I doubt their rare b\c their plentiful at Irvine and Ladew, and a friend saw one near MD line in PA. Are they really rare - their humming sound is very distinctive. inststructor at Irvine Nature center identified it during our class on Hummingbirds.

  • i just saw one - glad to see your video, I thought I was crazy!

  • NATURE! Let me mess with you.

  • It's a bee hummingbird! Where was this?

  • Comment removed

  • This is exactly the "thing" I saw in our backyard at some flowers here in South Alabama. I was sure it was some sort of bug, but it's resemblance to a hummingbird is uncanny. I am very used to looking at hummingbirds, they're everywhere here, but this was about half the size. It even made the humming sound, and the wings, tail, and proboscis appeared to be almost identical in shape to a hummingbird. It's movements were also very hummingbird-like; pretty cool, I had never seen one before.

  • OMG! I just saw one outside my house in Maryland and came to look it up. The first of its kind that I've ever seen -- and unfortunately I do spend time looking! Thanks for posting this video.

  • bug

  • The first time I saw one of these I thought it was a tiny, furry, flying lobster.

  • that's actually a moth

  • neat music

  • What in the world....?

  • Oh my gosh, what a beautiful creature!

  • maybe both

  • @qavroj yea its a humming bird moth but idk if its still animal or insect.

  • @bellahorse151 You speak as if insects aren't animals.

  • @Kitsune really i'm not sure!

  • @Kitsune really i'm not sure! If an inesct is an animal then why did they come up with 2 words for it i'll never know :p.

  • @bellahorse151 .. Because "Animal" encompasses a whole group of living beings, while "Insect" is just a section of that group. Like "Reptile," "Mammal," "Bird," "Fish."

  • @Kitsune ok..... kool well now i know but really i'm not the smart person only when it comes to art, cooking, and riding but other then that i never really learned about widlife experience stuff b4.
