Well... actually I think it was supposed to be a bit nostalgic, dreamy, and strange, you can't overlook fact that "dog bites and bee stings" are kind of "sad things" that happen to you as a kid, Every bad thing that happened to you as a kid is behind this unique fog, sometimes you can't even distinguish stuff that really happened and stuff that was just strong, bad dream. For me, this song is these memories. Distant, foggy, nostalgic. And that's why this song is so perfect.
