I was in high school when this aired. I missed it but the next day all my friends told me about this weird store that played The B-52's and some guy wearing black lipstick. It sounded like heaven!
On a beaut. Saturday in Sept. '78 I bought the most unusual shirt at Fiorucci (with a small button down collar-so much for Saturday Night Fever, which was dated even when it came out). Wore it that night to the DCA Club in Phila. (its DJ cowrote "Hot Shot"), dancing to Macarthur Park by Donna Summer - pure 70's fun. And the tight jeans - God knows how we go them on (and don't forget the skinny belt that went around the waist twice). Loved that time even tho memories of it are painful for many.
I WORKED IN FIORUCCI BACK IN THE 70's AS AN UNDERCOVER SECURITY OFFICER. THAT'S WHEN I MET FABULOUS FOLKS LIKE ANDY WARHOL, STEVE RUBELL & KLAUS NOMI (RIP). MY FAVORITE CO-WORKERS WERE JOEY ARIAS AND KATHERINE WALLACH (WE GOT ALONG GREAT CAUSE WE WERE BORN 2 MONTHS APART. I SURELY MISS THOSE DAYS. IT WAS TRULY AMAZING <3
Will never forget the day walking manhattan at 18-19 years old and discovering a neon/ fluorecent clothing store playing loud music, unheard at the time, Fiorucci circa 1979-80, the daytime studio 54. klaus nomi have the honor to be the first performer who died of Aids. Joey arias still around performing.
I love how at 2:04 klaus really freaks that guy out. I could have probably fit in there real well lol.thank you so much for putting this up it is great.
Fiorucci was SO ahead of the game, the resonance from what he was doing three decades ago is still evident in fashion even today...and likely will be for a long time.
Am I not being clear? I am referring to the person in the background of the shot at 1:45. Nice that someone gave thumbs down to my casual observation.
would go in the store alot! salespeople were always friendly.

In red, Joey Arias, a legend himself. Performing regularly in ny, and touring the world in the show arias with a twist.
