  • this cover moves me to tears everytime I listen to it...

  • @danilefreak ...cover?

  • @danilefreak You know this is the real deal, right?

  • I got to be at this show. it was amazing..

  • 2 dislikes??????? f*ck

  • I'm not a fan of wheezer but read the story and had to hear the song. I thought the fact they canceled some tour dates to go to the girls funeral and put on a benefit show for the family was really nice of them. I'm sure the girls would of really appreciated it. All really sad though I've got 2 girls I can't imagine that happening to my daughters it's to awful to think about. I hope mom and dad are ok

  • @beacalldavid i think it really shows rivers character you know?

  • what happened to the girls?

  • @countingcrows123 They died in a car crash :[ I think either going to a Weezer concert or coming back from one not sure.

  • @KosToadies They were on their way to the concert and Rivers noticed that they weren't present and had the manager call Mykel and Carli's mom who told them about their death.

  • this is my favourite version of mykel and carli tears me up every time i listen to it though

  • It's amazing that he could get through that without crying

  • @987657654321 it kept sounding like he was going to cry though

  • @SATURDAYateSUNDAY

Yeah, I don't know how he got through this without actually sobbing. If I was singing a song I had wrote about a friend who died, I'd have a hard time playing the song.

  • this happened in 1997......

hum......a guy told me the song by Jimmy Eat World "Hear you me", was dedicated to these 2 girls because they were friends of the band.........has Jimmy Eat World been around that long?

  • yep they've been around as long as weezer!

  • @jmInDreams yup

  • So beautiful. Makes feel so calm yet emotional. It's a weird feeling.

  • The last time i watched this video was sometime in 2002 and I just got the same strange chill I did then.

  • This is easily the most emotional Cuomo was on stage post Pinkerton..maybe ever..this is great clip to show..really moving..the lyrics/harmonicas and when he goes into the higher pitch eerie and very sad

  • ;(

    ;(

  • Emotional for sure. Especially seeing their parents.

Has Weezer ever played this song since this show? I can see them retiring it after this, you can't top how moving it is.

  • @Meatballhead07 No, but this was never a regular part of their sets. This song was a Blue Album B-side that was written when the sisters were alive.

  • Yep. The word is still out. OUCH.

  • bless the dad there doin the horns! i love it how theyll definatly bang weezer on as they tidy up at home!

  • You are right.

  • I doubt he just found out. I live in Utah and remember hearing about it in the news.

  • rip.

  • why dont they show the whole song?

  • @dasenase Error in the tape made some of the footage unusable, so it was cut out.

  • This is incredible. I have just learned that Mykel, Carli and Trysta died. I dated Mykel back in high school. I don't know what to say. I'm ... crushed by such a loss. I wish I could see her again - as I knew her.

If anyone knows how to reach their family please let them know that Troy from Diamond Bar would like to speak to them.

  • soo yeha like, you dated her in high school, she died in 1997 and you only find it out now ?

  • I agree and i never usually reply to youtube posts. If you actually knew her I highly doubt you would have found out she died 12 years later

  • Do you even know when he went to high school? Do you think he keeps track of everyone he dated?

  • Lmao, yeha you're right, he just went on youtube, lucky him he likes weezer and finds out about this song and discover he dated that girl in high school, ahah

  • Or - he found out somewhere else, came here to ask if anyone knew how to contact their parents.

  • yeha like "oh dude, didn't you know mykel, the girl you dated in high school died in 1997 ? you should go on a youtube video and ask to talk to their parents"

    ahah you're a joke

  • Did I say "Oh dude, didn't you know Mykel....?" No, I didn't.

I'm a joke? Coming from a person that can't even properly type? Yeah, okay.

  • @TheRaindrops

    how is that a joke

he could have dated her in highschool

    and moved on

he wasnt dating her when they died

  • His voice sounds just like Ben Kweller here.

  • Ever since I've watched this, I've played Mykel and Carli this way (the slow tribute way)

Every time I play the song, it's always a tribute to the two biggest Weezer fans ever...

  • that's such a sad story.even at the point i didn't know about this human tragedy a sat in front of the tv and wiped tears out of my eyes...

  • i wish that on the blue album deluxe they had this version on it instead of the rock version

  • @munozestevan I think they put this version on the new compilation cd death to false metal.

  • @KoolThing14 iTunes exclusive bonus track, unfortunately.

  • You can hear Rivers ready to cry as he sings...truth be told, I was close to tears too.

  • thanks for your answer.

ok thats a really sad story.

our band has a couple of such special fans, too. it was very kind from weezer to do the gig. i hope sth like this will never happen again...

  • i almost dont dare to ask??

    but what happened??

its so emotional...i bought the dvd with this on it. very movin on the one hand but so beautiful on the other...

  • Mykel and Carli were very good friends of Weezer's and started the Weezer fan club. The were a very defined role in Weezer's early days and after the blue album, attending over 60 shows following them around which inspired Rivers to write the Mykel and Carli song. Sadly, Mykel, Carli, and their other sister Trysta were killed in a car wreck on their way to a Weezer concert in Calgery Alberta, so Weezer organized this tribute show in their honor.

  • Here is what really happened....They were at a show in Denver and tried to drive back to Salt Lake City, fell asleep, and had a tragic roll over near Rifle Co. They never showed up at the concert in SLC and the search began. They were my sisters by marriage. I had to sit and watch as their dad listened to the Coroner tell them that they ALL died.. All three of their daughters. They were not on their way to Alberta. I think that that was the show Weezer cancelled because of the funeral etc.

  • watching this made me cry. it's so very sad and to the point. this song always carried a tone of loss, even before Mykel, Carli and Trysta died.

  • R.I.P Mykel and Carli

  • shit i mean R.I.P Mykel and Carli and their younger sister trysta

  • Last time I saw Weezer was this show...

  • how?

  • Anybody else have the rest of this concert? HELP!!

  • You Do! LoL!

  • this song just kills me. very emotional, but to the point.

  • I loved mykel and carli so much. My husband, kenyan(their brother who was closest to Carli) has been a different person since then. we drove out to the accident site and had to smile because they left such a trail of life. bubble gum, sunglasses, pictures in a camera of that night, undeveloped of course. Just remember their beloved sister Trysta, was w/ them too and also died. what a bunch of cheese balls they were together. Always silk screeing and Weezeening. Always thinking of the fans..

  • Or thanks to Karl for putting this on VCD, not acrosstheweez.

  • The reason I thanked acrosstheweez was because it uploaded this to their server to be availible for download. It was directly given to me by acrosstheweez and indirectly by karl.

  • My favorite song, great show to.

  • This brings back great memories. I was at this show and it was amzaing. Great tribute.

  • I actually received a "Hello" from them when I joined the weezer fan club back in '93 and when I found out who they were I was shocked. May they both rest in peace.

  • Get goosebumps when M&C's dad is waving his arm and Rivers is singing "Hear you me, Mykel..".

    Great song.

  • It's a great song, but could someone answer this question for me? Who are Mykel & Carli? I don't know.

  • Two of Rivers' friends in high school and key members to the band's fan club. They died in a car accident going from one Weezer show to another. The song was written before their deaths, though.

  • They didn't actually go to high school with him. That was invented for the song.

  • They were co-presidents/founders of the fan club

  • they were co-founders and presidents of the fan club back in the early days.

  • theres a link on the weezer homepage that has the whole story. i could recount if for you buts its long.

  • Very sad song...

  • Mabey this was a big influence on the darkish songs of pinkerton, This does sound very pinkertonish.

  • logical observation..but most of the songs for pinkerton were already written by this time...

    =swoop=

  • Ah, this concert was a year after Pinkerton had been released, but the song Mykel and Carli was written back in 1994, and I can see what you two are saying about the darkness of this performance, but the studio version of the song is kinda cheerful really :]

Apart from the lyrics, of course

  • yeah...is a bitter sweet song..it wasnt sad until they died..now its a sad song..

before it was a nice little tune(still kinda depressing) but now its sad

    =swoop=

  • Mtv covered the benefit concert at the Palace in Hollywood where Weezer got their start. M&C were there for them when only 10 people showed up.

  • amazing show, ive seen bits and pieces of the entire show. ive been trying to find it on dvd from the trading sites for ages.... but havent had much luck. its a very sad song and i get real sad just hearing about it, it makes me think what if something like that happened to my friends or family....

  • I was lucky enough to get to take Pictures if you are that interested. There is a weezer dvd called Treasures from the vault w/ footage on that along w/ vids.

  • yeah, this video is on the dvd, but i was trying to find the whole show. but thank youfor trying to help! it is appreciated.

  • You are welcome. If per chance you do get your hands on the whole show, let me know. There is a clip from Mtv news about the accident etc. Were you interested in photos? Jim, their tour manager might have it. Call Mtv and request it. Good idea.

  • This is Mykel and Carlis' sister in law. It's nice to know that people still care. They were with another sister, Trysta, the paisley princess. We still miss them as if it were yesterday. Pat and Jen, are you out there?

  • just got my weezer tatt looks balllin

  • best song by weezer.

  • sad....great song

  • Mykel and Carli were Rivers' best friends and helped out the band in the early days. Mykel, Carli and their younger sister died in a car accident.

  • rivers looks like kurt cobain but waayyyy hotter!!

    love this song... so sad

  • depressing

  • NO WAY!! Is that RIVERS?WITH LONG HAIR?!?! sweeeet! I never thought I'd see the day. He looks good like that. goes well with him when he's not wearing glasses(a.k.a., the "nerd" look)

  • his music is more important than his hair length

  • That fat guy is Mykel and Carli's Dad asshole

  • Hey slob, this man was their father. Try losing half of your family. Idiot.

  • the history as far as i know it..... mykel and carli were two sisters/weezer fanatics... they ran the fan club, and made cookies for the band....anyhoo they died in a car wreck on the way home from a weezer concert

  • so... what is the history behind this song??

  • That's a great question. "Hear you me" was Carli's

famous saying, so Rivers wrote her a song. Jimmy Eat "May angels lead you in." On sleeples roads the sleepless go. May angels lead you in. E

  • Sorry for last comment. Jimmy Eat World also wrote a song for them. On sleepless roads the sleepless go. May angels lead you in. May Angels lead you in. They were trying to get back to Salt Lake City before the next day's concert. They were so tired. All three of them died together because one could not live without the other. They left behind 2 beloved brothers. Check out the Jimmy Eat World song. May Angels lead you in.

  • the old guy is there because his daughter died.

  • not just one daughter, but both of them! that's so sad. i feel bad for them.

  • three of them, actually.

  • You are sick marilyn. I call this man my dad. He'd just had brain surgery and was just enjoying the moment. Keep laughing pig. Karma..

  • thank you so much for uploading this

    sad though...

  • so sad.

  • Phenominal thanks for posting this

  • almost eerie how they wrote this song before they died, even though it would sound like they wrote it afterwards

  • ...

  • sad shit.
