@Frosttty for 40$ you get 1 playable plane. for 125$ you get 10 playable tanks, 10 playable IFVs, 9 playable APCs, and a few anti-tank vehicles. which seems like the better deal to you?
@eSimGamesDtl oh wow. I was really excited about the SEP coming since I'm a SEP tanker at Ft Hood. I didn't know that the gunner's spot wasn't playable. That definately changes my mind about getting this.
@M2fiftycal Well, we can't tackle all possible tasks at once. Surely the SEP will receive further attention from us in the future. Ultimately, I guess, the question is whether you want to focus on a specific crew position of a specific tank, or if you can see SB Pro as what it is meant to be - a tactical, vehicle centric simulation of contemporary armored/combined arms combat ... with an additional capability to jump into many (but not all) vehicles.
@eSimGamesDtl You misunderstand me. My platoon is preparing for tank gunnery and sim time in the AGTS and CCTT systems is limited. I was hoping to use the target designate feature on the SEP in game to work on TC/gunner cooperation and base fire commands via Teamspeak. I still enjoy the game, but I was trying to talk others into gtting it now that the SEP is in. The lack of a gunner position undermines my argument. That is all. I know I can dsignate on the 2A5 but it's not the same.
@M2fiftycal I see. Well, I can't help it, right now. The M1 is a bit of a sideshow to us since none of our army customers is using it (except Australia, with the M1A1 AIM, but that isn't the same), so we have to slip it improvements on our own initiative. And we're doing it, but we can do it only at a pace that is determined by how much time is left once other development work has been done.
What positions does the sim allow in Challenger 2?
WickyWiggstaz 4 months ago
@WickyWiggstaz Gunner, commander, .... and technically also a (generic) driver's position. Plus the usual external observer, of course.

Is this still a $125 program? DCS should make some tank sims. They do a badass A-10 for $40.

Are there any differences in gameplay between the M1A1 HA and the M1A1 SEP?
cobrabase 1 year ago
@cobrabase Yes... the M1A1 can be played from the gunner's seat, the M1A2 does not offer this option ... yet.

Any changes in armor between the two?
cobrabase 1 year ago
@cobrabase Of course. M1A2SEP is significantly better protected than the M1A1 or M1A1(HA), which in turn are better aremored than the original M1.

@eSimGamesDtl - Actually M1A2SEP is only M1A1-HC with option for reactive attachments, and some new command features... same armour.
