i love finney its weird how hes not well known when in my oppinion he was way better than most of the old players that are well known today. My grandad was a preston fan in the days of finney and he still says today that finney would bully ronaldo on the football field he said there was no diving or fancy stuff just good old fashioned strength and skill ronaldo wouldnt have a chance against finney. From a Preston fan who loves the fact that Finney is ours!!!

Jagerbug, u must mean CR7 when u say Ronaldo? I'm going to assume that u r. I was lucky enough to see "The Plumber" ply his trade on more than one occaison. Finney had all the quickness & ball skills of CR7, but he was a FAR more physical player, and much better in the air. Finney was a 1st class scoring threat as well: don't forget that he netted 30 gls. 4 England. CR7 is a fine winger, but Finney was from a diferent PLANET in terms of talent & ability, IMHO.

Yeah, & I was agreeing w/ u 100%. I just wasn't sure if by "Ronaldo" u meant CR7 or the Brazilian striker. I was also supporting what u said because I actually attended matches that Finney played in & saw him in action 1st-hand.

A great player and a very nice man. A combination you don't see too often in modern football.

My dad, who played against him, reckoned he was the best player he'd ever seen.

great to see the array of British football talent(Franklin,Mercer,Lofthou­se,Mannion et AL) honouring in my opinion,England's greatest post war player.A truly world class winger and goalscorer,who'd run rings around so called "wingers" like Beckham...
