  • LOL this is asome

  • could use a little work but all and all pretty good

  • chagikick = 0 brains

  • I compete with Yoo Sin, while mine looks different from hers, alot looks the same. But alot of people learn the same form in different ways. Its a great competition form.

  • You are right about all you said. Shannon did make one mistake in this form and we corrected that. Good thing the judges didn't notice!

  • i've start to study tkd with a korean master and he teach me the forms like this (yhung)...this form is correct;this is not itf, this style is the father of itf.actually are not many schools that practise it.

  • Good luck with your training in taekwondo.

  • sorry for being negative, but this is simply wrong, some diluted form of tae kwon-do! gen.choi will be turning in his grave.

  • That's OK. I understand your negative comment. I saw your video and see that you are ITF(with that sea-sicking sine wave movement). I know that it's your duty as an ITF student to tell everyone else that they are wrong and you (ITF) are right about everything. You are a part of the ITF system and are brain washed to think ITF and ITF only. I'm sorry for you.

  • @Kicks001 each to his own to be honest. i am a former hip twist (non-ITF student) that joined the ITF to learn sine wave. some people can't see the benefits, others can. its the way of the world. i am confused what some of the techniques are suppose to be doing in this version of Yoo-Sin Hyung compared against the ITF method for their Tuls.

    all the best and taekwon.

  • Good job! Your form follows Gen. Choi's original interpretations. I always like to see people perform the traditional forms of TKD. It helps to know that there are more traditionalists out there!

  • hmm, no offence but this pattern is technically incorrect on many levels. Gen Choi did not design this pattern with some of the moves shown above in the video.

  • I'm going off of what I have researched from Gen. Choi's encyclopedia of Taekwon-Do. I have cross-referenced this form with a few other resources, and it follows the pattern quite well. That was my statement. That and I love seeing more traditionalists competing against the usual eye-candy forms.

  • Having trained with General Choi's son on many occasions I can assure you that this pattern is technically incorrect;

1)first movement is not a jump into sitting stance, it's left leg moves out into sitting stance

2)movements 8 and 12 are outer forearm high side blocks, not knife hand blocks as shown above

3)Pause the video at 20 secs, this is not how sitting stance is performed.

4)The front snap kicks are meant to be mid section

    The whole pattern is wrong

  • We know about the knifehands being wrong..that was the first only only time she's ever done that. Call it a lack of concentration or a brain fart at the time.

As far as the rest of the 'whole patten being wrong', I'll be sure to forward your note to the instructors who taught her this form. They, btw, were trained by one of Mstr Choi's first black belts who left Korea to tour the world and introduce TKD to the world.

  • That would be a good idea, i'd be interested to hear what they have to say. The girl is probably young and doesn't deserve negativity, so whoever taught her like that should be held accountable. There are way too many mistakes in the pattern, how it won gold is beyond me. Even down to basic rotation of the fists in punching - see the twin fist upset punches - General Choi would pull that performance to pieces if it was done in front of him.

  • The instructors would like to see a video of you doing this form (pattern)so they can see why you said "The whole pattern is wrong". They firmly believe that its not entirely wrong as you claim, and perhaps more accurate than you think. They do see some errors (mentioned previously) but that dont not mean the "The whole pattern is wrong.

  • I don't mean to offend but me putting up video's of myself is a childish response. The fact that there are huge mistakes in the pattern raises an even bigger question as to the standard of the judges watching it. I was replying to 4th dan who said this pattern is how General Choi had designed it when in fact it is way off. I'll asko ne question though, there are movements in this pattern that require the body to turn reverse half facing - what are they? your instructors should know.

  • Even if you post a video there would be no proof its you. They are looking for credibility. Its too easy for anyone to type a critique of someone else's actions and not have any proven credientials to back it. Maybe you can talk the talk but can't walk the walk. Just as I open shannon up to critique by posting this video for her aunts, uncles and cousins to view you open yourself to critique. Her instructors disagree with most of your critique and do not want to get involved in a war or words.

  • TBH, this is the internet and credentials aren't necessary!

I said from the outset I didn't mean to offend and I still don't, what I write is just mere fact, thats all. I'm not interested in walking the talk or any of that egotistical nonesense.

I'm not interested in a war of words or even trying to change anyone's opinions, facts speak for themselves, there are very obvious mistakes in the pattern. It's no big deal, no one gets hurt! But on a serious note, how did the judges not see it?

  • Yes, I know the WTF does and it is approved by the USAT and the ITF and Moo Duk Kwan have books and video, alot too. The AAU has no certain references that they approved yet. It is fun because their rules state you can not change the forms, but change them for what if they are yet to approve a book or video as a guideline to their poomsae competition.

  • This is one problem with the AAU forms judging. Not all judges know the 2 series of WTF forms, the ITF forms and the Moo Duk Kwan forms. Although she made some mistakes has a judge I would have not maked her down because it may be the way she was taught by her instructor. AAU needs to have a handbook of how the four series of forms should be done for competition.

  • I know that the ITA does; I think a video too. When we were with the old USTU they didn't have any standard either. Do you know if any other organizations have such a book or video?

  • Sometimes they miss certain movements, i guess because of the wide range of variations on forms..

  • This looks diff to me O.o well iono maybe forgetful, but only parts of it look similar to the for that came to mind.

  • Se did catch a few mistakes in it when we viewed the video. Fortunately the judges didn't notice the mistakes. Shannon made the corrections for the May 12th tournament and won first place again.

  • Well done Shannon - what a champion!

  • Shannon says thanks!
