you did most of it correctly even though you messed up and forgot lol. the reason you have to cut it diagonal is because those little dimple things can make your throat itchy when you eat it and also you don't have to waste that much of the pineapple away. the first way you did it is more efficient only if your good.

I haven't cut pineapple for donkey's years, I just buy it in cans & make smoothies with it by adding Soya milk & a little soya cream! Pineapple Fritters (in batter) are seriously Awesome, and it's been years since I last tasted one! Pineapple & Ham in a Salad is pretty good too, and in a medium to hot Madras curry it's also pretty cool. oh well, hope yours tasted good & sweet.

That is how they cut pineapple in Thailand (kens way) if you ever go to thailand be sure to eat pineapple it is so good there. Anyway, your knife is probably dull because it sounds like you are cutting on glass (or hard plastic) which is not good. You want to cut on wood for soft plastic (wood is best). Anyway enjoyed the vid, its fun to watch you just do whatever you want. Keep it up!
