they put action and some more action before comedy and I think that was the biggest problem with get smart. The show was comedy then some actin then back to comedy

If the studio hadn't have promoted the movie as a throwback to the old series, it would have been accepted better.

As a stand-alone comedy, the movie was average. As a throwback, it didn't pass.

The one thing that made the series what it is was the integrity of the characters, especially 99 an 86. With that broken, fans of teh series should be disappointed.

I enjoyed Get Smart. The movie did not make Max seem like a bumbling fool like the Tv version. I was very pleasantly surprized by Anne Hathaway's great performance as 99. There were several very funny moments, and the plot was better than most of this genre. I watched this film not expecting alot, and my expectations were exceeded. I'd give this movie 3 ***

I was actually pleasantly surprised with Get Smart. We saw because there really wasn't anything else worth seeing at the theater we were at. It had some hilarious moments that made everyone laugh. Just a bit too many one liners :P

Don't be fooled, this movie is very good from the stand point of a teenager and it's the best movie I've seen all year. Check it out it has plenty of laughs and Steve Carrel has never been funnier.

The original series was not a James Bond parody,it was an American espionage reworking of The Pink Panther. It looks like the filmmakers wanted to amp up the action angle so they went more for the James Bond shtick.
