  • We might never have heard of him if he hadn't saved Perry Como's son from drowning and he was promoted by Perry as thatnks

  • BEST MALE SINGER EVER

  • Truly love everything Frankie Laine ever sang. He could really move people with his voice.

  • @MsJL72 Frankie didn't have the best voice of the pop singers. But he could do more with his voice than any singer I know. And yes he could move you in a way few would even try. Fron the very first note of a recording you knew it was one of Frankie's.

  • I'm looking for a recording of Frankie's from the early 50's called Love is such a cheat can anyone help with this?

  • @TheDADDYBAILEY I just uploaded "Love is such a cheat" to You Tube

  • you are right, frankie always sang with great feeling, when he sang I believe you felt that he realy did believe, My late wife & i called our record player in the late 50's or Frankie Laine machine, we thought he was not just a great singer but a truly very nice guy

  • mark , my late wife Eunice & I fell in love & stayed in love for ever till she passed away in 20007 listening to frankie laine

  • @tipple1933 I have had many coments from couples that tell me that they fell in love to Frankie's songs. There were many singers back then who had great singing voices, but no one could put feeling into a song like Frankie could. There will never be another like him.

  • Another nice Italian boy with a voice.

  • lovely - thanks for the memories

  • Love the big band sound of this really good song.

  • oops! Sorry Mark - just did another search and found that you have already uploaded "When You're In Love" - I am now very happily drinking in the memories it provides.

  • @TOMBANCROFT I'm glad that you found it, some of these songs are hard to find because there are so many pages of Frankie's materal to go through.

  • Just had another listen to this great track Mark. I think the UK version on the Phillips label had "When You're In Love" - on the flip side. I have it on a 78rpm vinyl somewhere. You say you have all Frankie Laine's recordings. Is it possible to upload "When You're In Love" please?

  • Rest in peace, Frankie - 1913-2007

  • Wasn't this released in 1953? Charlie

  • @navydoctrinidad No, it came out in 1954 and charted that same year.

  • @markalson1938 Thanks. I remember it very well. Just checking the date. Thanks again. Do you have the famous and mysterious "Music, Maestro Please." Charlie

  • @navydoctrinidad Hi Charlie, Yes I have everything Frankie ever recorded (I think). I'll put Maestro on YT very soon. Mark

  • @markalson1938 Wonderful. That was a masterpiece. Always loved it. Thanks in advance. Charlie

  • This song was popular when I first met my best friend. He's still my best friend, but I only see him 2weeks out of the year. He used to like "Someday" and I liked the flip side. Thanks for posting!

  • @cf1934 Both sides were great but "Someday" charted fairly high, but the flip side which like you I liked better didn't. But "There Must be A Reason" for that but I could never figure it out.

  • @markalson1938 My taste must be different ! There's been a lot of songs I liked the "B" side better. That includes a lot of different singers.

  • thank you for remembering me the style of Frankie Laine, i so little boy and enjoy the music and great voice of Frankie with my dad,in the ´70 he is dead in the year 80, so the memorys not dead of course!, thank you ! greatings from Argentina.

  • What a powerful rich voice and what a great entertainer he was. RIP Frankie and thanks for the memories.

  • I was 13 when this song came out and all my mates used to be singing this whilst swinging.

  • Great reflection of a past great and nostalgic oldie - I really do appreciate your uploading it - clicked "thumbs up" and "liked" for 36 pts... am favoriting it as well.

  • @felixbautista Your very welcome, this was one of Frankie's biggest hits from the mid fifties that like "Hummingbird" which came out about the same time is completly over looked by Columbia afterwards. They were not put on a LP and you will have a hard time finding them on a CD today.

  • I love this song! He is such a great singer! I wished that he and Tony Bennett would have recorded together when they were at Columbia.

  • ES MUY BUENO PIA CHILE

  • Great song, great post. Glad someone asked for this one.

  • @CarlDuke I was suprised when I looked and this song wasn't already on YT. I try not to put songs on that someone else has all ready done. This was one of his best from the mid 50's.

  • I would have loved to hear Frankie Laine and Tony Bennett record a few gems together.

  • @KentuckyJet I would have liked to have heard them together also. Mitch Miller teamed Frankie up with a lot of Columbia's starrs but never Tony or Guy Mitchell.

  • BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!

  • BRILLIANT.

  • Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! One of my all time favourites - and it's the original. Because Frank lived to a ripe old age, he re-recorded lots of his songs over and over again - but this is definitely the original 50's version. Now if someone could just post "When You're In Love" by him from the same era it would be great.

  • @TOMBANCROFT

Yes, frankie recorded his hit records over and over through the years with new arrangments trying to keep them freash. But most of them were not as good as the orginals. But I think most of his mercury recordings were better the 2d time around on Columbia. You ask for it, I just added "When You're In Love" to You Tube"

  • Markelson, why don't you download videos, as opposed to, audios. Anyone can purchase the CD's!!!!! What an absolute DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!

  • Nice song. I used to sing this as a kid. Thanks for posting.

  • I love this song. So to the point.. Thanks for posting

  • Your very welcome, This wasn't one of Frankie's Big Big hits but I think it was one of his best.

  • Great Singer Wonderful song Thanks for posting

  • markalson, thanks so very much for sharing so many songs by Frankie Laine..he was awesome back then and his songs still touch my most sensitive emotions...please post, if you have them, 'to be worthy of you' and 'midnight on a rainy monday'; thank you VERY much! 'wucha'

  • I already have "Midnight On A Rainy Mondy" on YT

I'll put "to Be Worthy Of You" on in the next couple of days. I always like to know what people like.

  • thanks, Markalson :Þ you're 24 K gold!

  • No Im Looking For MAKING MEMORIES By Frankie Laine

  • I searching for another Tune Frankie Laine Sang MAKING MEMORIES

  • I'm suprised that this song wasn't already on YT.

it came out in 67 when a lot of the youngsters of today (those in their 50's) should remember it. So I just posted it.

  • My favorite Frankie Laine song is called " I'm free". I haven't heard it in years and would love to share it with my wife and kids.

  • wELL YOU GOT YOUR WISH, I JUST POSTED "I'M FREE" ON YT. SO ENJOY

  • Esta canción me lleva a esas inolvidables tardes con mis abuelos escuchando su hermosa colección de música y recuerdos... Gracias por revivirlos. Frankie Laine no solo un gran interprete sino un hermosa persona.

  • Dear Markalson; I also love his ABC cuts in the late 60s (Most of them, anyway) and his early 70s Amos tracks. This is when i discovered Laine as a pre-teen and teenager.

  • It doesn't really matter when you found Frankie only that you did.

  • A lot of people have sung this song. Tony Martin and Mario Lanza come to mind...but none with the swagger of Frankie Laine, and the backing power of Paul Weston. The song was not a smash, not a flop. My own statistically-driven survey ranked it 98th among the top songs of 1954.

  • I think a lot of Frankie's best recordings were not the big smash hits. A lot of people have written to me about their fond memories of his lesser known recordings.

  • Somehow this song moves me to tears,,no idea why,,,maybe thelyrics,,or the way he sings it,,I just know I love it,,,and Frankie,,what a legascy he left,,

  • ..that sense of longing..and fear that it might not be fulfilled.."Oh, surely!"

  • I think that is it,,longing,,,I love the words,,don't know why it wasn't a huge hit<<maybe it brings back lost memories,,,have plenty at my age,,hehe,,

  • Chicago, 1954. My brother was driving me in his convertible to our summer jobs. We always played this song at top volume. Thanks for sharing this wonderful blast from the past, Markelson!

  • Heydyadtwo, what a great recollection. How I would have loved to experience Chicago in 1954. What kind of convertable was it?

  • Hi there, LA. Can't recall what kind of car it was,, but my brother had bought a used sedan, then took a hacksaw and cut the entire top off. Voila - a convertible! Three later, I dated a guy who owned a '57 T-bird convertible. Talk about ridiing in style!

  • This is my uncle. :)

Just visited his house in Sandiego this past year. He had an amazing life.

  • And another thing...what about that really enchanting rhythm in a few bars which seems like a cross between swing jazz and a tango..genius..

  • Coorrrr! What a sound. Powerful, beautiful voice and a tight, thrilling, magnificent band behind him...

  • great old song. thanks gugulia for sharing

  • Great!!!. Almost forgot this song. Thanks for this re-introduction to this terrific song.

  • Hey, thanks! This is one of the songs I check youtube for every now and then. Nice to finally find it.

  • Masterpiece!

  • Love Frankie Lane....he was wonderful, so talented and a voice that was beautiful

  • Thanks so much for finally posting this great and nostalgic ballad... I've been searching this as well for a quite sometime and you made it possible.

  • Thanks again for posting this request! Again, as with the 1957 "That's My Desire," a really great performance and arrangement. Love that "regal" opening!!

  • Your very welcome
