  • @BRm2008 1. you do realize they are talking about the first here right? And 2. A lot of people agree that the sequel outdoes the first

  • i wont bother seeing this. i saw the first. i lost 2 hours of my life it sucked.

  • I really love the movie although it isn't quite original. (But heck we're watching movies, not reading books, so that doens't bother me at all) I especially love how all the characters have been given a sort of twist which makes them much more interesting and funny. Sherlock Holmes in the book seems quite detached and he doesn't seem to be on the same level with Watson. But in the movie I feel that they've made the partnership more intimate, which I think is better :)

  • was it good? no shit sherlock

  • Why does nobody mention the fabulous music? It was the first thing my friend and I noted about the movie and the thing we enjoyed the most.

  • I personally didn't care much for Sherlock Holmes.

I found it to be kind of stale and boring. I was fighting to stay awake and actually contemplated just turning it off. Definitely a one-time see for me. I wouldn't watch it again. Glad I rented it instead of seeing it in the theater.

  • Spectacular movie! 10/10! I cannot wait until Sherlock Holmes 2 comes out! December 11th, 2011 is on my calander!

  • Robert Downey Jr. was an amazing Sherlock, but I think Jude Law could have been better; Robert Downey Jr. was hilarious enough that I'd see it over and over; 100/1

  • 10/10 Loved this movie, my other two friends who saw this also loved it. It's one of my favourite films now. It has a great mixture of action (Which it has plenty of to keep you really entertained) and mystery/intelligence (To stop it being some mind-numbing average film). All the people who say it's too complicated are pretty dam stupid because everything is explained at the end by Sherlock.

  • 10/10 heck yeah my only movie i really went WOW WOW in the cinema and watched it 20 times and its still awesome

  • 3:06 Charles isn't enjoying this.

  • Bad film with the sole purpose of 3:27

  • 9.5/10....

  • Sorry, But Downey's Holmes overplayed the eccentricities to the point of absurdity. I couldn't take this film seriously, and the action sequences overshadowed the mystery.

  • As an old-school Doyle/Holmes fan I actually reallly liked Downey's Holmes and this was a win for sure and I can't wait for the sequel and the trailers made it look like a noisy, obnoxious buddy movie but it was more classic Holmes than I expected and this was, you will recall, only one sentence.

  • he can you review the new sherlock holmes it is a tv series it is called sherlock please

  • I'm sure if he said,"Elementary my dear Watson." more than once, I'd ask who in the world making this movie actually read the books. People tend to comment on how gentlemanly he was, but quite frankly, I remember him not being well disposed towards women and was quite the scoundrel as far as I can remember. I think the humor made the movie even better. Or is that just me? Just my opinion.

  • What exactly IS your guy's idea of the "Classic Holmes"? I know he was quite the drinker and fighter which was well portrayed in the movie as he knew Martial Arts in his fight with Moriarty. Both he and Watson were Tobacco chewers...he never really complained about Holmes' bad habits....It's been a while since I've read the books, so what are your opinions on "the Classic Holmes?" relative to how he was portrayed in the movie. I thought the movie was well done.

  • It seems like the black people in all these videos are partially retarded.

  • I LOVE it.

    10/10

  • The film had everything. I personally don't think you should be able to figure out much of mystery. Sherlock holmes is the detective, not the audience.

  • @Googl295 YES! Thank you!

  • ive watched 14,15 reviews of diffrent movie AND I CANT TELL YOU EVERY GUY AND WOMEN IN ThE reviews are F***ing MORONS ! * i like the story and the acting and everything but the movie wasnt good * this isnt in this review :D and that girl is kind of pshycho !

  • 10/10 are you fucking nuts it was fucking shit i watched that film constately hoping that watson would die terrible 2/10 and as for guy richie lock stock was shit i dont give a fuck about those cockney wankers and snatch was ok.

  • why does she talk lyk a douche ?

  • I think Erik Beck and Grace are BF/GF

  • That guy in the blue shirt and black hat looked liked a fucken smurth what a weirdo

  • The novie blew. It was boring and completely inacurate. Should have been a Hough Laurie movie and needed new direction, casting and writing. Nothing redeaming about this film.

  • 6/10

  • most of the people they interview are such downers - yaaawn...wake the F up

  • sherlock holmes is the best and there are 21 idiot who missed the like button..

thumbs up if you think there'll be sherlock holmes 2!!!

  • @cocaclasica shut up, i love the movie period. i dont care about you anyway..

  • guys this is on #CUTE Zero Cost Movies . com #OMG

  • sherlock holmes in the 22nd century anyone??

  • #CUTE Zero Cost Movies . com #OMG has this

  • mate you guys are wrong on this complicated my fukin arse

  • All the naysayers of this film need to go back and read (or re-read) the original stories. If you did, you would stop complaining about this film's lack of reverence or respect to the characters and the world and realize that this film gets more correct than incorrect in dealing with the SHERLOCK HOLMES mythos...

  • @915Elitist perhaps you should read them (or re-read) yourself

  • I was expecting a super meticoulous old englishman, but what I saw was a face smacking crazy brawler!

  • oh i loved this movie seen it on opening day

  • AMAZING movie. I'm currently reading Hound of the Baskervilles and I hear and see Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law! Loved it. Can't wait for the next one!

  • 9.5 love jr. and this didt really got me intrested in the carektor

  • This movie gets a 1,000,000 out of 10 for me!

  • the sophistaction of that movie was almost imponderable by its first world class actors.

from now on i really love the main actors and i would love to see more of them in the future.

i would give that movie 10 out of 10.

  • I could make a Dr. Suess movie with that guy in the hat!

  • this film was so cool at first i was thinking it would be about an uptight guy trying to solve a crime but really he was just funny the way figures everything out... a very fun film to see for most anybody

  • 9.5

all my friends told me this was lame so i didnt go watch it when it first came out, i regret it, cuz this movie was awesome to me!

  • Sherlock Holmes: best movie I've seen this yr (so far anyway.)

  • that movie was epic...I don't think it was too complicated if you can create the mystery yourself then it shouldn't be because you know all the answers but still the movie was fantastic

  • Great Movie i would go see it again and i hope that they make a sequal since they left the end open for one.

  • Me and a friend went to see it the first week it was out and now it is our favorite movie! Compared to others we didn't find it hard to follow, and had it pretty well figured out towards the end.

  • ROBERT DOWNEY JR IS AMAZING my favourite actor

  • 10/10 excellent movie! and "its not too complicated" at all...the old dude is prob just stupid.

  • 2:43 I agree.

I wish the veivers could've sort of figured it out rather than having Downey just absorb it all, then release it all in an epiphany scene.

  • One of my favorite movies; Downey is definently not the classic holmes, but is still very -even superheroicly- perceptive; Jude Law is also not classic, but a represhing redux since no one really wanted to see a pudgy, mousy man come back to Holmes' side; great action and I loved the whole thing where he planned out his attacks before doing them. 8.9

  • EXCELLENT Movie.

  • this movie was so god damn good

  • nice spamming bitch, if you find a god website keep it for youreself!

  • Robert Downey Jr. was a drug addict? I did not know that.

  • This movie sucked.

  • It was a good Myserty action movie

  • FUCKEN EPIC!

  • - over 9000. One word. Fail.

  • id hit that.....

  • I loved the movie!!!! Robert Downey Jr. played his part really well! :D

And I totally freaked when...stuff...happened to Wattson (trying not to give spoilers) D:

  • My favorite movie of all time

  • i heard it was long and boring which makes me not sure if i want to see it.

  • @DarthSuzuka112 IT WAS STUPID

  • @DarthSuzuka112 that is funny

  • i was stoned and it was good!

  • Omg same! :D

  • Watch Sherlock Holmes at

  • That's for Ritchie. As for Robert Downey Jr. - since I saw him in Tropic Thunder (I admit I wasn't very fond of the movie) pretending to be black and saw his work on Tony Stark I knew he's in for a lot of great roles in the next few years. And I'm glad he was Sherlock Holmes himself. As for Holmes' fans who aren't satisfied with it - you should learn NEVER to compare works of literature and cinema.

  • By the way, I've never read any Holmes material and I can't really comment if Ritchie's vision of the characters is correct - but the movie entertained me to a level beyond his usual blow-your-mind effect that his other movies have on you. Since Revolver, through Rocknrolla and finally, this one, it screams out only one message - "He is back!" He's at 110% and I love his movies.

  • "too complicated"? "BORING!!!! Too long, too confusing" ?!? What the fuck is wrong with you, people? You know I don't think that you should blame Hollywood just because you're too incompetent to understand Richie's work. All I here and read is "They don't make them like they used to"... It's not the movie industry that lacks the capabilities to create great films, it's the audience that's going brain dead.

  • As someone that has read ALL the available Sherlock Holmes stories and has become a huge fan, I can highly recommend this movie. Even though I will offer that there are small points that the writers changed a bit, one being Holmes heroine addiction to keep his mind occupied while not on a case and the fact that Holmes is generally accepted as being much taller than RDJ has portrayed him, this movie captures the essence of Holmes and provides an amazing story to give the character exposure. :-D

  • The movie, as enticing and exhilarating as it is, left out mention of Holmes's cocaine habit (probably wise, given Downey's past), which ultimately left me rather saddened, but the fact that they've made a franchise viewed as "old and boring" exciting and fresh is beyond grand.

  • This was good but L form Death Note is the master dective of the world, Sorry Holmes. I give it a 5 and a half.

  • I like L to but don't let your like of one thing bring down your review.you brought up the comparison between these just because you feel spiteful

  • Can you support your claims? Have you READ the original stories? Don't make a claim based on a 2009 movie. Go back about 200 years.

  • ITS AWESOME :D:D:D:D

  • i give the movie 20/10 ... the movie is absolutely awesome... watch it!!

  • One word for this movie..... BORING!!!! Too long, too confusing and too bad i paid money to see it... should have spent the time taking a nap, oh wait I did half way through.

  • @rdy187

Aww, was it too confusing for your little brain? I'm sure five year olds wouldn't enjoy a movie with a few big words and an actual PLOT either, because they're little minds wouldn't be able to keep. I hope, for your sake, that you are 5 or younger, or else you might want to get that brain defect checked out. Could be serious.

  • He is a crazy man! A funny crazy man! ^_^

  • I saw this movie thursday. ive actually started reading the books again before I knew of the movie, a knowing of some storys from these books does make the film more enjoyable to watch, but it doesnt hinge on that fact. the story was well told and the mystery was pretty likend to the actual storys from the books; there is no real guessing because its impossible to know the ending unless you have heard the conclusion before. that aside, id give the movie a nine and a half out of ten.

  • This movie was amazing, I think this could be one of Robert's best films yet :)

  • All the scientists of the world know the lies, on the global heating, hydrogen like the true fuel and many other things but, never they do nothing. Cowards, slaves of the power and enemies of the humanity. They only recognize the club bilderberg as master.

  • They really reinvented Sherlock Holmes to the max. But I enjoyed it and now I deeply wish I was as observant as Sherlock

Holmes. Great chemistry between Law and Downey. I always enjoy Downey's humor so I mostly watched for that.

    Recommend watch. 9.5/10

    I enjoyed it at watch-movies-free . tk

  • Amazingly spectacular, funny and action packed.

    l will give it 11/10

  • i think he was better as Iron Man

  • great movie. surprising and unsuspecting gave away hints but not the whole movie away.

  • great movie very unsuspecting.i loved it lots of action and very mysterious

it changed throughout the movie and kept on the same theme the whole time

  • sherlock holmes was too camp, with exaggerated accents and boring characters trying too hard to be interesting, and failing that has a miserably illogical and predictable plot. Robert Downey Jr is a good actor, but the tedious character and his stoic accent makes Sherlock Holmes a snore fest. Loved Tropic Thunder though

  • 7/10

I liked how he cracked that very elaborate case, but I wish I could have been clued into what he was thinking a little more during the movie instead of just getting blasted with the explanation all at the end.

  • i'd say it's okay. not great. could have been better in the directing (my opinion)

  • 9/10: I've never read any of the novels so I cannot judge based one that, however the actors did a FANTASTIC jobs playing their roles and the movie had people coming back for more, (me and my family some of those people who saw it more than once). The way that Sherlock deduced the way he would fight way a nice twist to the man who would carry around a magnifying glass :)

  • this movie is the best mysterious movies because of the graphics and the story making the audience want to see it all

  • 8/10 While the film was indeed well-done and worth seeing, there was a certain lacking felt where the film had room to be more definitive. However, it was a good film nonetheless.

  • i dont need a history lesson just tell me about the movie

  • i give it an 9/10

  • wtf is that guy wearing on his head?

  • 9.983052754/10

It wasnt what i would have expected from a Sherlock Holmes film, especially because Downey doesnt look at all like Sherklock and Jude Law looks nothing like what ive seen of Watson, but overall the story was good yet complicated and the action was great to.

(my favorite part was when he thought about the fight moves he was about to do and pictured them in his head, and then did it in like 3 seconds)

  • 10/10 this movie is gay, Im mean great Jkjk

  • Question: what sold you today? answer: Ironman

what fuckin movie was he at?

  • 9.5

Loved nearly everything, but the ending could've been better.

By far my favourite 2009 movie.

  • This movie was true to the book which many fans will enjoy and will make it more interesting to the new audience.

  • Did they honestly look for the most retarded-looking people to interview coming out of the theatre? What is that one guy wearing on his head?!?

  • I give this movie a 10/10. At first I thought this movie would be boring and stupid, but, suprisingly enough, it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole movie. It is action packed and has a great way of explaining things in the end. The charecters and actors for them are amazing I loved this movie. AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE!

  • 8.0 I liked the movie but it was preety complicated. It's one of those movies that once you watch it a second time you understand it more. Altough I liked the acting and the sets were incredible.

  • 2:45 to complicated you must have been sleeping to not get some of the clues, *spoilers* the only thing that confused me a little was how he survived the first hanging, i knew theres a poison that stunts your pulse but it wouldn't stop you from dieing once hung, also what surprised me was the machine at the end, i knew they were planning on poisoning someone once they found the first lab *end spoilers*

  • He was not hung; he had paid the man who put the noose around his neck to put a hook in the noose and then hook it to a clasp he had behind his neck, which wrapped around his body, distributing the weight away from his neck when dropped.

  • i knew he put the hook in the noose, but when i first saw it, it confused me cause i didnt know he had survived until i saw the end

  • Sherlock Holmes was a well thought out movie, complicated too.

  • i LOVED this movie!

  • i just seen sherlock holmes 2nite it was a good movie

  • the mystery was not good he came back from the FUCKING GRAVE

  • Sherlock Holmes was really good, acting and interige-wise, but on the ways of action, and overall plot, could've been slightly better.

  • I was kind of expecting them to do it like spiderman, iron man, bat man, fantastic 4, and all of those and use the same idea but make it very much a comedy at the same time.

  • 8/10

The movie was directed fantastically with great actors and effects, but there was too much mumbling for me to hear a lot of it.

  • 0:07 i have sunglasses like that :P

  • Despite being made from special effects they portrayed London very well and added in many good landmarks. There was a lot of mumbling but I liked the plot. The movie wasn't boring but wasn't very exciting. My dad thinks it's sort of dark.

  • OSR: The plot is incomprehensible, but beautiful cinematography and a top notch job by the whole cast make Sherlock Holmes well worth your time and money.

  • shelock holms was always about being a mystery and was everything that was british. now its just another kids film.

  • You call that a kids film? Absolutly not appropriate for those under 13.

  • @myblackbox

I agree, there needed to be more tea and crumpets.

  • Grace Rudolf is hot...

  • i just saw it tonight and i feel that it is a ride that leaves you on the edge of your seat and leaves enough loose ends for a sequal! i give the film a 9.5!

  • One sentence review.

So nice work Hollywood, you grabbed another fictionalized character and candy coated for everyone to eat up.

  • I really enjoyed it and hope it reboots the series :D

  • Actually, audiences gave this an 8.7

  • I thought this was a fantastic movie. One of the best I've seen this year. Definitely placed in my Top5

  • 10 Simply brilliant

  • this movie was really not all that great i found it had no holding power and i havnt read the books and maybe thats why but the trailer to me was better than the movie it just kind of dragged on

  • how do people like avatar, but think this dragged on? Do you have the attention span of a goldfish?

  • well this movie does not anywhere compare to avatar

avatar was simply amazing the storyline was a lot better acting was great and was very intriguing

sherlock holmes for a action/mystery had enough action as stupid as it may have been but the mystery factor left alot to be desired i wouldnt watch it again and robert downey jr is one of my favourite actors

  • Are you paid to say this? The plot of avatar was predictable poorly done and grotesquely predictable, I felt like I wasted my time watching a movie when I knew what was going to happen just from the trailer, at least Sherlock surprised and interested me, but alas ones a smart movie and the other isn't and their audiences show it

  • Agreed, I haven't seen it yet, but it's 2 40 minutes, and I heard the plot wasn't even very good and the effects just took it all. Sherlock Holmes was great, sorry for all those who couldn't understand the ending?

  • The plot wasn't good for Avatar?

Who said that? Tell them to watch dances with wolves. Avatar was a needed breath of fresh air for action films, there are still people hanging on the fixation that action plots are stupid.

James Cameron's an old school action director, he cares about plot much more than effects

  • @mikeysa

The plot has been done not once, but twice before. Dances with Wolves and the Last Samurai. The plot was pretty medicore and predictable but the visual and action sequences more than made up for the plot and made the movie well worth the ticket price.

If James Cameron is an "old school action director" why would he put so much effort into the visuals that he did? Sure visuals add to the plot, but much deeper and better plots have been achieved with much less.

  • Just what I heard, I've also heard it was the best movie someone I know has ever seen, I'll have to catch it before it leaves theatres.

  • It didn't drag on, they made sure everything was properly told, it's like saying you're annoyed for a solid plot yet I'm sure you wouldn't have hesitated to say there were holes in the plot, if there were.

  • sure it had no holes im not debating the solidness of the plot it was just really boring
