UAE local here, just wanted to say that locals don't hate Americans , and I like the video ,and I felt the Same way when I went to London last year ,I felt thatvpeople are talking about me which was stupid because they spoke in English and I know fluent English
Welcome to UAE and you seem like a very intellectual person and I love the way you explained about the censorship, how it is made to protect the local culture its so true!
I absolutely LOVE your videos. I'm so fascinated by westerners who live in the middle-east. Having lived in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi for a couple of years, I really enjoyed my time there. It takes a little getting used to, but that applies to every city.
Westerners NEED to travel to the middle-east to learn about the culture as opposed to watching FOX news, hahaha. Thanks for entertaining us, and keep them coming.
it's been said many times, many ways...but I'll say it again...you're awesome and I'm learning so much. I have had the same views as you pretty much about the Arab world- why wouldn't I? NPR is about the only "balanced" media source feeding us information about that side of the world.
Loved the airport videos- Jeff is very videogenic ;-)
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)s attitudes and behavior towards non-Muslims is the fact that he never made compromises in his moral virtues. As the Quran states, what you said is nice but it indicates to how shallow your thinking was , i hope you read as much as you post videos
WooooooW thanx 4 the video ur awesome! and u dnt hate americans or the american government =) were peace loving people! Am a proud muslim and emirati and i think UAE is a gd example of diversity and multiculturalism,,ana am Happy that ur Happy
Sonya, I appreciated your candid video on the UAE. I am moving over in a few weeks for one year and it has been great to get an erudite opinion on the area. Thanks!
Your videos manage to straddle personal, political, anecdotal, emotional... Thank you so much for sharing your experience this way. The Sonya Network is one of my favorites. It kicks Oprah's ass.
You are truly making the most of your time in the UAE, and I love how much you've immersed yourself in the culture. It makes my respect and admiration for you grow even deeper...and I didn't think that was possible.
We miss you here in America, but I've loved getting to experience the UAE through your eyes this last year. Thanks for the videos Sonya.
Wow 1 year already? Time passes so fast. I really misss UAE. It took me a while to get used to living there as well. I can say honestly the day we left Dubai to come back to the states I cried. Its a great thing to be able to live in another country and experience other cultures and ways of life. It has been such a great experience for my family and I. Id move back in a heartbeat Insha'Allah :) Nice to see your videos again and to see your happy and well.
