It's going to be amusing when Mitt Romney gets the 2008 GOP nod. Then WATCH as either Mike Huckabee and/or Ron Paul run as INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES an one or both of them fracture the Vote just like Ross Perot did to the GOP in 92' and Ralph Nader did to the Dems in 04'. Politics is theatre of the absurd don't waste you're time on these rich guys who only care about making money an couldn't give a rat's a-- about voters except when they shill for your votes.
Don't be ridiculous. The PA is not "orwellian". It simply gave the gov't the tools to pursue terrorists the same way they pursue drug smugglers.
You can't name one unconstitutional act of the PA or one right you've lost. If you watch Freedom to Fascism, you should note there are over 10 lies in the first 4min 45 secs of the film. Nice propaganda piece.
SaltyPig, I think anyone with much of a position of leadership or authority should have people who point out where they go wrong because everyone is flawed, but I think you would do more good if you wrote in a less hostile tone.
If I spent much time with Paul or any other libertarian, I would argue with him about some issues. I support Paul's candidacy, but I am not a cultist. I hope it doesn't turn to some Randian type cult. Very few people are libertarian, but I hope that Paul can move a lot of people of varying ideologies in that direction. I like to think that maybe he can get people to think about issues in a different way. Try not to bite the heads off of those who are moving in the right direction.
To all others on this page: Ignore SaltyPig (ergo Spammer), mark his posts as spam and block him. I'm not paying any further attention to the guy, he thrives on attention, so give him none. As Rush Limbaugh has often stated, when you spend too much time arguing with charlatans, you soon start to sound like one yourself.
And who else on this planet matters, aside from yourself obviously since that would be a given by the arrogance in your posts. (P.S. - You'll forgive me but it took me a while to post this, I've been laughing my ass off trying to read your posts)
In looking back over the comments, I'd say the straw man belongs to you. You've yet to actually make a case for your position. You've only been insulting. I can do this all night and into tomorrow. Can you actually make a case?
OK, thanks, SP. I had a lot on my mind earlier and needed the distraction. Time for a rum drink now. You can have one too. One day you'll have an epiphany and you'll understand more than you ever thought possible.
"Rational argument? OK, so you heard someone use the term "straw man" once and you think repeating it makes you sound smart. If you really have a rational argument why not spit it out unless out of fear that you'll be intellectually ripped to shreds?" Bryan's son's gerbil. Pesonally, I'm havin' fun. What are you so wound up about?
What are you? A high school sophomore with no friends? Do you expect to be able to have a legitimate debate on a forum which cuts you off after four sentences? Go build that Enterprise model you've been procrastinating over. Whew, and get that diaper changed.
SP, You assume much. I am 46 years old. Twice as old as your writing indicates. I've been involved in various aspects of socio-political philosophy, mainly of the Austrian economic and classical liberal doctrines, since high school. You really have no idea how stupid you make yourself look with your adolescent babbling. Even on a fairly low level forum such as this, you're obviously out of your league.
P.S. - I find it interesting that Porky Pig decided to link to my video attacking John McCain rather than my other video dealing with the general issue of Ron Paul's exclusion. We may be dealing with a closet John McCain supporter here, which would explain his maturity level.
Aesthetically this page is a lot more pleasing with the useless Pig comments in the spam category. Someone should remind our friendly neighborhood buffoon that Spam comes from pigs, hence his name.
Oh yes it is a matter of force, and as to the video that I'm sure you saw, it was a call to arms. The people in Iowa had every right to keep Ron out of that event if they so chose, and we had the right to respond in turn. It was not an issue of censorship, but a matter of exclusion, once again, learn the difference, and try to spam a little less in the process.
One's right to speak does not inherently include a right to be heard or a right to be provided a platform. Your opinion is obviously unwelcome here. Why not go bother someone less intelligent that yourself?
One of the consequences of free speech is the possibility that people will ignore, even and especially when you have absolutely nothing constructive to add to a conversation. No one is using force to silence you, and your inability to distinguish this and cope with the fact that most of us prefer to ignore pests rather than shout at them is proof positive of your disposition.
"writing this down"...in cursive, no doubt. I suppose you haven't collected enough insults and abasements for the day to justify curling up in your usual fetal position at night and chanting your personal mantra, "Nobody loves me...nobody loves me..."
Thanks for the name calling...quite telling of you. Of course he has to retract those comments. The third won't confirm or deny, what does that tell you?
The video quality wasn't that great but the energy of the room and the singing more than made up for it. I am so happy a video was put up that shows how crowded the room happened to be in Iowa.
Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.
Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."
"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."
"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"
I've talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution "a goddamned piece of paper."
The Megaphone desktop tool is a free Microsoft Windows application distributed by the World Union of Jewish Students and other pro-Israel organizations, through the Giyus. org website. Released in July 2006, it delivers real-time alerts about key articles, videos, blogs, and surveys so you can voice your opinions and work together regarding Israel on the public opinion front.
As much as I like Ron Paul, I agree. Too many people still think government is not fundamentally flawed as a notion and that it can simply be fixed with the "right politician". Even if RP won, does anyone here honestly think he would pass even half the reforms he wishes to unopposed?
I'm in this for the long haul, Elhan2005. Even if RP doesn't win this time, the genie's out of the bottle. A lot of Americans know this is going to be a long hard fight and we might not "win" the WhiteHouse this time, but we're not ever going to stop this fight for restoring the Republic.
What's there to live for, if we have to live with tyrants?
No. I'm sure they would fight him tooth and nail. Up hill battles are never easy. That, however, is no reason to cower from them. The battles won by a RP in office might be few, but they would be right, and they would be a push in the right direction. That beats the alternative; and that being status quo, or worse, more corruption. Because the battle would be hard is no valid reason to give up. Because any progress made might be hard-won, and even limited, that is no reason to walk away.
Thank God the founding fathers didn't feel that way! They saw an uphill battle, and bravely took it on. Freedom is a contagious thing...you'd be surprised on the number of followers once he is in office.
Ron Paul has to win the election. The media is lying about him being 2% in the polls and all that bullshit. Hes destroying all of the polls, they just refuse to cover his progress. Pretty soon the American people are soon going to give two shits about how much money these candidates are raising. Hopefully the american people will wake up and vote for Ron Paul.
When my nephew was in elementary school, one of the questions on a test was, "In your own words, describe Patriotism". He wrote, "I don't know what it is, but I know what it feels like. It's the lump in my throat when we all sing The National Anthem."
dear saltypig, with all the love and kindness that i have for my fellow man, it pains me so, to have to tell you that you are one fucked up mother fucker. you see saltypig, i know and most of us know, that what you just said about collectivism versus individualism is exactly the OPPOSITE of what Ron Paul talks about. Please SaltyPig, do not spread untruths, and help your fellow americans instead.
the comments by saltypig are filled with personal attacks without much fact. the very same is constructed in such a manner as to invite a reply. the author wishes not to engage in meaningful debate. the author wishes to distract and annoy. do not worry, fellow patriots, for they know that their propaganda vehicles are beginning to fail.
Ya wanna talk goosebumps? I'm in the 5th row on the right side inside aisle but occluded in this video singing at the top of my lungs......goosebumps indeed!
After the speech, a friend of mine stayed on and talked to some of the event center guards, 30 of which they had posted to watch for "rabble rousers". He said to the guard, so after watching our crowd, how did we compare to what they told you to expect?" The guard said..."The crowd was NOTHING like we were told to expect; you guys were awesome; and watching you made me feel "American"!"
That to me, was one of the greatest statements I heard all weekend.
We were the two up near the front waving our white ballcaps(1:19). The press estimates of the size are wildly off the mark. 20 seats per row, 50 rows. I counted 'em. That place was SRO.
I'm not a fan of the false patriotism usually expressed by National symbolism, but if hearing the US National Anthem sung from the heart like this doesn't move you, then I feel sorry for you.
SaltyPig - you obviously live by yourself caged in what you think is elitest intelligence. we will all be outside enjoying life while learning about and working for a better country.
you sir provide zero alternatives to Ron Paul while attempting to slander anybody who isn't you. God Bless you and get a life.
I was there for this, but lost my footage! Dr. Paul hadn't shown up yet, and the room was just filling up. They were playing various pieces of classical music and some patriotic songs. I was standing next to a speaker when they National Anthem was playing, so I couldn't tell people were singing until the music cut out for some reason. So inspiring to hear a room full of people finish the National Anthem by heart!
majorlabia, while I don't agree at all with SaltyPig's inane and vacuous nonsense, your comment regarding his/her hypothesised ethnic origin is totally out of order, and beneath what Ron Paul stands for: equality, justice and liberty (and anti-racism). Your comment is offensive generally.
SPREAD THIS>>> user/stankyblog has the whole IOWA forum Video Weird name yes but it's all there...pass it on. Why the hell did'nt this come up in search? Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!
Let freedom ring! The founders of this great nation would be proud of you Dr. Paul; you have red, white, and blue running through your veins. It is our duty to keep the Constitution alive.
The room had 1000 seats from what I heard. However I have also heard there were 500 to 1000+ there at the rally. (all sources say there were more at the RP rally than at the Forum)

Let freedom ring! The founders of this great nation would be proud of you Dr. Paul; you have red, white, and blue running through your veins. It is our duty to keep the Constitution alive.

It's ringing all the way to Hawaii, PMorphy65! I have a Liberty Bell here that is vibrating so hard that it now has a crack in it.

Troll
have not seen you post for a while.
The room had 1000 seats from what I heard. However I have also heard there were 500 to 1000+ there at the rally. (all sources say there were more at the RP rally than at the Forum)
