It all comes down to the driver of the vehicle. A 120hp car can beat a 500hp car. If the driver in the 500hp car does not know how keep the rubber from spinning in place, and etc. Lower hp cars are better on street race because they do not break traction very easily, unlike the more powerful cars. But put the two on a dragstrip with "sticky spray" on the lanes; the lower hp car's only chance is if the other car wrecks, blows the drivetrain, or runs out of gas during the race.

That's the whole idea of having a light chassis and a free-revving engine with good power. The Vette is a sports car. It isn't designed for sheer acceleration, but not for top speed either. It's got modest gear ratios. It will haul ass when you get off the gas, yet is geared wide enough to tackle longers straights as well. I wasn't trying to diss the Vette in any way, I'm just angered that some people can't accept that it lost to the Civic.
