I can't stand the JP8080, I had two, great machines but the texture of the sound is too Goa Trance, it has some sort of antialiasing at the high end or the harmonics... I do not know. I just do not like the texture... it is too much JPish. For the rest is an amazing machine, good to have two of them, for leads and for bases, but I do not like the texture.
@vjrei i have both versions, also Supernova 2 ,Nord Lead 3 amongst 13 synths and the JP`s supersaw is still the best out there (I love it)...thats my opinion....i agree with the texture sounds...but there is no complete synth yet (maybe OpenLabs???)/Oasys)...cheers
@PETSH0PB0YS1 It sucks because I really like the JP, the problem is that you can tell is a JP. But for example with the Virus you won't tell unless you know the sounds and you heard the presets on the radio. I may get a Virus TI after all. I have the same thing with the Kurzweil K2500 and every Roland drums sounds, can't stand them too "Chick Korea", too "Berkeley"
@lethalevenasleep hi mate, i have both a JP8000 & JP8080 and there is the Vocoder option on the JP8080 (not on the JP8000),but you can load sounds in to the respective Synths.... noticed Nord Lead 3 Rack below the JP- i have the Keyboard version in my collection of 13 Synths...awesome. Good luck Cheers Dave
nice vid mate im getting one could you tell me is it hard to program as i dont want to use a keyboard id rather program it in then my hands are free to use my 303 and 909 kindest regards
Hey you definately got a good thing going there. What kind of music do you do? Where did you get the JP-8080? I've been wanting these for a while. Along with a hyperfuzz pedal.

are the sound from the 8080 identical to the 8000?
raefpatsotne 2 years ago
apparently yes. the only thing is different is that it has a keyboard.

JP-8080 also has a vocoder, distortion, and 10 voices of polyphony rather than 8.

lethalevenasleep 2 years ago
is it USB connected to computer and you can adjust sound physically?
that's cool.

Don't think it has USB, just MIDI.
DavePerry2012 2 years ago
all synths can do that -.-
as long as they have a midi or usb output ;)

Yez. First came Analogic, then discrete-chip audio... and then, and only then came VSTi PC/MAC and whatever. Real sounds are Hardware ones :)
