I knew Gene back in these days. What am amazing singer! He was so much fun to be around. Jeff Huskins was his amazing fiddle player then. What a nice young man! He ended up playing with Clint Black, then Little Texas. Wonder where he is now?

Mark, one of my favs... LOVE IT! cute little ditty it is... Gene's Farewell Party band is one of the BEST in the business as well...

sometime when you get time, look up Mike Johnson (the steel player for Bill Anderson's PO Folks Band for many years, now doing session work in Nashville, Opry, etc...), he is AWESOME, one of the BEST steel guitarists ever! You'll thoroughly enjoy Mike... the guy who used to play in Bill's band also, Dirk Johnson (played piano) is NOW Gene's producer too.. lol

Hey Red - is Dirk the good looking guy who plays the piano on the "Gene Watson & Friends - Fourteen Caret Mind" video? I watch that video at least once a day not only to see Gene but also to look at this guy. LOL. That signature piano sound is wonderful and, as you've said, Gene's Farewell Party band is one of the BEST in the business. - Paula

lol NO, I don't KNOW who these good looking guys are w/Gene and Ricky Skaggs on this one, NOT the Farewell Party band either, least the band I "know" that used to play w/Gene, NOR is Dirk here. You can "see" Dirk Johnson on piano in the video: Linda Davis & Dirk Johnson- Searching (1985 Play It Again Nasville), he's on piano there with Bill Anderson's PO Folks band who he used to play with. He also post ALOT of songs/vids under: "Dirkworks"... lol

Gene sounds wonderful as always here. I love watching him doing some of these older songs especially because he makes them sound better than I've ever heard them sung. His voice is unforgettable and he just seems to get better as time goes by - which doesn't happen with every singer. Thanks for posting another great one. - Paula
