  • This is just awful... the parry should not break the arm unless it is last second, a parry should be with the wrist not the whole arm.

  • Bogus is a pretty apt name for this guy.

  • I am a qualifyed fencing coach and a ranked fencer and this man dosent know what hes talking about. I wouldnt even attack him so harshly exept for the fact he claims hes an expert. What is his parry 5? that isnt a parry in any recognised fencing system. His lowline parries go too low and in his quarte he bends his wrist to face the opponents target which is only a legitamite technique in epee. Plus his parries are too big even though he says not to do them big.

  • @antleredzen So were would you recommend a person could find some online fencing for begginers vids.

  • @antleredzen So where would you recommend a person could find some online fencing for begginers vids.

  • @antleredzen where can I see your videos?

  • Guys -.-... Sports are not always about ranking and winning. :O Well of course coming better and winning is the point in most of the sports.

  • His basic advice - to use the smallest parry that will still block an attack - is good. However, there are three things wrong with the video:

    1) Ironically, his parries are too big

    2) Aside from parries 4 and 6, his names for the parries don't match any standard system

    3) Keeping the tip pointed toward the opponent during a parry weakens defense and rarely confers much offensive benefit, since such a block leaves the opponent in control of his or her blade and ready to defend immediately.

  • He makes his parry big so we can see it

  • Demonstrations should demonstrate proper technique. Plus, more appropriate, smaller parries would still be readily visible. P.S. I don't mean to attack this chap - he's trying to do a good thing, and more power to him.

  • I agreed. Big parries and chasing the blade makes it easy to get faked out, plus it makes you slower to respond.

  • hey are you sure if he is wrong. before all you comment him, pls make sure that you are good at this. proove it. Because i don't know who is wrong here, either him or you. Cause some people make comments because they think that they are good which is not. And also it's good to have a free online lesson. It helps also. Than to pay a thousand dollars just to know right. all i'm saying it's good.

  • Does this guy even have a ranking? I pray for anyone who follows this guy.

  • Thank you for this video eventhough it did come 6 months too late.

  • Quick to critcize are you..why don't both you so-called "experts" post YOUR videos on here..let's what you have.

  • You cannot teach fencing online. I am not going to attempt to (even though I am way more qualified than he is- I have seen his profile), and this guy shouldn't either(Especially since he is not good). You obviously don't fence or also suck at it, as people of the higher level share my opinion.

As to your other post, I watched most of his videos in order to poorly rate them so that possibly they could do less damage to the sport.

  • I agree

  • thank you.

  • Have been fencing for about twenty years now..and I can give you a run for your money. Of that I have no doubt. Your slurs against me humour me..to a small degree, but if fencing is starting to produce hyper critical egomaniacs like yourself, then it is that, and not this gentleman's videos that do our fine sport no credit.

  • lol. 20 years at what level?

  • i fence for over 7 years now.. and now i'm in the dutch epee team :)

  • LOL...one considerably higher than yours apparantly

  • Thank you for providing the finest example of a person with thier head up thier ass...yourself.

  • I cannot get over how much this guy sucks.

The only way to learn fencing is from a coach, not online.

  • Then have you been watching all his videos on then?

  • Is that a fact? It seems that you are contradicting yourself, as you have viewed pretty much all of this gentleman's videos. Anyone that was truly confident in thier own abilities would not have to resort to juvenile drivel, such as you have here.

  • I am going to start fencing next week - meanwhile i have been watching a couple of these vids and i have noticed that you seem highly skeptical of this guy... can you please explain to me what he is doing wrong? I am finding these quite helpful in giving me an understanding of some basic concepts, but i dont want to get a wrong idea of something before i even start.

  • well it's that his technique is really bad and he is not very knowledgeable in the rules. trying to learn online, especially from him, will lead to bad habits since there is no one to fix them (technique is crucial in fencing). i suggest that you find a decent club and coach who knows what he's doing. he or she can then give you a strong foundation and put you on the right track.

  • bad moves and old defences

  • You have some new ones then? Please, of your courtesy, show us what they are.

  • I'm not going to make movies of myself while I try to explain some moves, but I know what good moves are because I fence due to the new fencing tactics in the Dutch epee team.

  • Birds of a feather, I see...
