guys... I adore Led Zeppelin but this was the worse guitar solo ever performed by Jimmy Page. I cannot belive how lost and bad he was when he started - or rather tried to start playing it. Check the moment on 5:50. It is very disappointing.
Robert Plant is a shadow of himself and this is Jimmy Page On drugs. This, unfortunately, is a far cry from even Knebworth. At leaast they put the effort in to put on a show. O2 was better.
LED WILL ALWAYS STAND ALONE AS THE BAND OF BANDS THANK YOU GUYS FOR SOME GREAT MUSIC INTO THE HISTORY BOOKS YOU WILL GO SO THAT YOUNGER GENERATIONS TO COME WILL BE ABLE TO ENJOY WHAT WE GOT TO ENJOY IN OUR TIME PERIOD WE BOW TO THE MASTERS BUT WILL NEVER FORGET YOU (THANK YOU GUYS)
This was around 1996, and Robert didn't hate the song, he simply got tired of having to play it every time. He had created so much music since then, it was just reliving the past for him. The best version I saw was when they played in Madison Square Gardens. Robert jokes in one clip that he can't even remember the lyrics! LOL, it was nearly 20 yrs since they had first done it. Best band ever, it was for ABC. Love them 4 ever!
Anyone notice the scewup by Plant on the lyrics in the part of "...It's just a spring clean for the May queen. Yes there are 2 paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on." ???
@Taker1116 screw up? no they cutted the next verse so he ended up this verse with the final line from the last verse before the solo, I really doubt he forgot, though it's possible
@Taker1116 yeah instead of yes there are two paths you can go by but in the long run, theres still time to change the road you're on. But instead he combined that verse and another verse and made it your head is humming and it wont go, because you dont know, theres still time to change the road you're on.
GREAT vid! It was tough to see Robert Plant struggling with the high notes between 6:20-6:27, after his voice cracks as he realizes he's in trouble and immediately steps down to a lower key around 6:30 to finish out the song. He's still struggling and you can see him wince around 6:40. As a performer I have total empathy for the guy in that moment, because I know it must have been so frustrating for him. Good on ya, RP. You finished it strong.
So many shots taken at Jimmy Page but the audio here sucked and at both this reunion and LiveAid. The audio crews should have been shot. Jason Bonham was not prepared and did not give his best. considering the magnitude of both the 85 and 88 reunions you would think that everyone would have done their homework.
@EverTheSame5 I honestly think they would be.. they never fought or didn't get along.. the only spit they had was between Robert and Jimmy at one of their reunions, I'm guessing because they both knew it just wasn't the same without Bonzo (RIP).. They made the right decision closing the door on Zeppelin.
I missed this at the time but I remember the guys in my HS class coming in the next day and talking about how bad Jimmy was.

You can tell how much Plant hated this song. He almost didnt do this reunion because he didnt want to sing this song.
