@BlankfrackCripledFUK Wrong Dottie West died after Kenny Rogers phucked her in her ass and than pistol whipped her after she got drunk and snorted up all of his Cocaine.
When I google the song, I find that Dottie West, Bill Davis and Dianne Whiles wrote this song. Don't know if it is right, but I found it on at least two pages
Let's get this straight! Dottie West was and is an INCREDIBLE performer. She should be noted and in the hall of fame. Where she belongs. She is an ACCOMPLISHED singer, writer, and did lots of things with people and the Industry... DOTTIE WEST, you are SURELY missed and LOVED by me and MANY....
dottie doesnt get the respect she should.. she is one of country music greatest singers.. and should be in the country music hall of fame. dottie west.net is trying to get her place in the hall of fame
@dacordova By the way dottie had 18 top tens and 5 number ones, she wrote 400 hundred songs including is this me for jim reeves which was number 3, she discovered jeannie seely, larry gatlin and steve warnier, she was the first woman to win a grammy and was nominated 8 more times, she helped fellow country singers in their time of need.
Dottie is more than deserving, vince gill was inducted when has 44 dottie would be 78 if she was still alive.
Dottie.....what a goddess.....my childhood friend and I were huge fans of hers and always wanted to see her in concert....but we lived in podunk...haha...so we never got to see her....her music is timeless....
Still not in the hall of fame, just another slap in her face. This is an outrage! Give me a break and put her in. Should have been done years ago. The Nerve.
I agree! It's a crime! Dottie is the best, and it's a shame that the industry that she loved so much has not recognized her...they should be ashamed! RIP Dottie...you are not forgotten! Thanks for sharing this! :)
@MrKingsRow she was a great singer. Hott as hell and sang real country compared to these "ladies" who are in country music today. For the most part. there are a few ok ones.
Dottie was one of the great voices of country, and what a great classic song. Brings back great memories of growing up listening to country music. Thank you for posting it.
She always had a pleasant voice! I loved her songs and voice eversince I was a lil' kid. I remember when I was about 11 yo, I told my mom that I dreamt about me and her singin' a duet together. Years later I've found out that she sadly passed away the year I was born. May she rest in peace.
Dottie had a reputation for arriving late. It proved her undoing. She started for the Opry in a new car that Kenney Rogers had purchased for her but for some reason had to abandon that car. She was offered a ride by an older man who lost control of his car and crashed on a hair pin curve going into Operland. He wa going too fast and was trying to make up for lost time. Dottie was probably the most important passenger he had ever had in his car.
I remember I got my first blow job in my '66 Chevy at the drive in movies when this song was playing. Let me tell you this, I came like a bucket full of silver dollars, not once, but twice! I couldn't kiss Donna during the movie or when I took her home but I put it to her real good in the back seat during the intermission. She was a screamer. I lost track of her but saw her at our class reunion in '83. We never had the heart to speak with each other, but I popped a boner for her a few times!!!
HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember this song when she did it. On the record she doesn't mention Coke, but on here she does...guess the folks at Coca-Cola were having a field day with the FREE ad. Dottie was GORGEOUS!!!!!!! Shania Twain...eat your heart out.
there is so much joy in Dottie's voice here. I remember when that commercial came out. "Enjoy the Country Sunshine. . .of Coke". She was the first woman and the first country singer, to win the coveted Clio Award for writing that song. People don't realize what a gifted songwriter she was. She wrote many of her biggest hits, including her signature, "Here Comes My Baby". Dottie was truly a great lady of country, she kicked ass and took names, and there needs to be more reconition for her.
@captainsmith1 little bit of fact......the idea for Country Sunshine came from a poor young mother of 4 little girls in the small town of Moline, Illinois. She wrote this song and then when Dottie came to town and they became friends, she played it for Dottie. Next thing you know, she hears it on a Coca Cola Commercial while she is struggling to make ends meet. Thanks to Coca Cola and some Chicago attorney's Dianne Whiles finally got her name on the song she created and the royalties deserved
@countrysunshinekid And you are suggesting Dottie stole this song because I would'nt believe that for a second, Dottie had the biggest and kindest heart that mostly impart led to her money problems, Dottie would perform shows for people to raise money for causes but would'nt cash the cheques cause it would have left the people struggling to make ends meet. Anyway Dottie got her Coke contract from the song Country Girl which she wrote in 1968. I'm not disputing Dianne Whiles co wrote.
@MyJustified The fact of the matter is that this woman was in fact affiliated with Dottie for a brief time in the early 1970's. Fast forward several years to the late 70's - when Dottie is at the peak of her success with Kenny Rogers - and all of a sudden this lady comes out of the woodwork to state that she was a co-writer on the song. Because Dottie is in the middle of a very successful tour with Kenny and riding the highs of her success, she goes to Illinois to settle this claim in court.
@fltwoodmacrox81 Very well said, I know it's happened to other people in the past but for some reason there was always someone there to take advantage of Dottie, and when she had her problems barely anyone come to help her out after all the help she gave to so many people over the years.
@MyJustified I just find it ironic that the lady came forward to claim herself as a co-writer after Dottie was at the peak of her success. No doubt that Dottie had many take advantage of her during her life - from her own family to leaches (called "friends") who used her for money - she always gave more of herself than she got from others because she was a vulnerable lady. But thats okay, it'll all come out in the wash soon enough in the near future...
@MyJustified except kenny rogers. he gave her that car that broke down and always felt a bit guilty about her death. if her car hadn't broke down, after the leaches drained her, she would not have had to rush her kind neighbor's help to get her to the Opry on time. she SO loved her fans and didn't want to let them down ! RIP Dottie.
@MyJustified This is very similar to many other cases of its likeness. Stevie Nicks had the same problem with a lady in the late 1970's who claimed she was the original writer of the Fleetwood Mac song "Sara". The lady lost the case but such happens quite a lot. Today in Nashville, if you don't have it published the moment it is written, then someone will claim that they are responsible as a cowriter. One line, the title or the change of one word can legally make you a "co-writer".
Thank you for putting this up,,Dottie ROCKS!!!!!
