  • Just love this song and it's the first time I'm hearing it. I know all of their songs, but this one I never heard of until now. Love the beat and KC's vocal range.

  • This song went nowhere in the USA (a mixed-race band = radio-play problems) but in the UK went Top 10 in spring 1974. I remember seeing their "promo film" (aka music video) - filmed on a 1940s-style tiered stage - being shown on LWT's Saturday morning kids magazine show "Saturday Scene" (presented by a pre-Tiswas Sally James),

KC&tSB had many more hits in the UK and Europe but it took another 3 years before the band finally caught on back home in the USA (with "Boogie Shoes").

  • If this dosn't get you up,nothing will !

  • listen to the backing singer(s) the hold on the last afterthe chorus.....as good as bill withers lovely day...

  • THE BEST DISCO HIT EVER , JUST CANT KEEP STILL HA X

  • Saw these guys in concert last September. They played all the big hits (Get Down Tonight, Shake Your Booty, etc...), but I was a little disappointed when they didn't play Queen of Clubs. It was still a blast, one way or the other!

  • wondered who did the back ground singing ,and why like it so much as George M was/ is a big disco hero of mine..much better than please dont go...

  • that,s george mccrae doing the high notes in that song,i,ts the same year that kc and the sunshine wrote rock your baby originallly for gwen mccrae but the song suited georges voice better and wen,t on to become worldwide number 1

  • This song is BAD ASS!!!

  • This is so cool. I want to dance now :)

  • KC and the Sunshine Band! One of my favorite bands of all times. I love this song and all of their other hits.

  • Straight-up FUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he's such an exuberant dancer,. wow! :)a pleasure to watch his enjoyment. of the music....

  • If you threw a party and she a`int there..........!

  • People constantly ruin videos on youtube with their stupid banners. This one may not claim to be this person's video but do I really need the obvious title of the band and song?????

  • the best song ever about cocaine?

  • mine too, classic northern soul played in wigan ,plus i named my son after this song kc [casey]

  • Is this song really from 1974? In 1976 I heard it for the first time...

By the way, thanks for uploading!

  • this is the first K.C. And The Sunshine Band record I remeber hearing on the radio on WZIX Am and on 98 WYCR I play this at the dances I dj at

  • Wooowww, KC was a shaman, that´s rythm

  • This always reminds me of the fair when i was a teenager !

  • me acuerdo cuando era un jovencito

  • Georger Mcrae on backing vocals

  • Brilliant, no I'll say that again, BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT music. The bass-line, the melodic hook, the horns - this band and this song have got it *ALL*!!

Having said that, you can sort of tell they're miming this, can't you? ;)

  • @curvalecce I'd never really focussed on the bass line - yeah man he damn funky!

  • Great song about cocaine!!!

  • This bombed in the USA - only the UK and some continental countries got it.

I remember seeing this tape on LWT's Saturday Scene back in spring 74 and it blew my little 7 yr old mind. Then I FW to Jan 80 and "Please Don't Go" where HWC is FUBAR on snort. And half the band gone - likewise, prolly.

Then later I lived a couple yrs in South Fla. And understood.

You cannot have mixed bands win - like KC or Sly Stone - in the USA. Huey Morgan can't talk about Led Zep or DMC about The Stones

  • get down man dig it

  • bello beautyful!!!!!!

  • The 3 guys at the back stole this video, made it their own!

  • @royalwelshful JAMMIN THEY ASS OFF LIKE THEY SOME BACKUP DANCERS 4 KC

  • yes it got to No 7 in the Uk but i thought it was more popular than that. It was on all the time

  • as a kid in the 70's I was crazy for this band I see why dick clark liked them in 1976 new years show they played on it .

  • You'll all be happy to know that rap is DEAD in mainstream music. Now, it's all about dance music. At least in America. (:

  • KC, the disco PATRIARCH !!!

  • gotta love it when the guys start bumping!! disco was all-inclusive.. black/white, male/female, gay/straight.. this song and band perfectly reflects the club scene in 1974!

  • imagine this ultra funky tune being picked-up and performed by one of those non-musical but extremely popular hiphop dudes - WHAT a change that would bring to all these young kids - REAL danceable music at last

  • wasnt a minor hit in my part of britain???

  • This song has so much energy wow ..!!!!!

  • 46,000 views now so a little justice at last....great track but sadly just a minor hit here in the Uk

  • Did you put this together ? , great sync if you did

  • blinding song should ahvhe been a bigger hit

  • Its no surprise Jim Carrey models himself on ol KC!

  • This is too good

  • i am a big fan of Kc and the sunshine Band

  • you can say that again people in these days dont know music

  • As many times as you handle!!!!!

  • HOW MANY TIMES DO I PLAY THIS????

  • God damn...what a sexy song....ty for the post

  • Brings back great memories, thanks.

  • ppl recken that dannii minogue should do a cover of this song what do u all think

  • totally 70's disco Casey-tastic....fab!!

  • groovey man..thanks for sending ...

  • = ) \0/ congratulations

  • Harry Casey is my god

  • Geoege Mcrae did the high bits .. just before 'rock your baby

  • I can not believe a man can get his voice that high!

I thought the backing vocals were females.

  • The high voice is George McCrae, who made a hit out of the first song Casey and Finch wrote, Rock Your Baby. (Apparently they were lip-syncing here.)

  • @erscott13 I had no idea that the high voice belonged to George McCrae. This was the group's first hit, it reached the UK top ten, but failed to chart in the US.

  • @GrahamLondonUK, it's a shame it didn't reach the top ten here; it's such a great song. I am so thankful to YouTube for giving me opportunities to learn so much about music I would otherwise never have a chance to know about. Not to mention re-finding old, obscure stuff I loved in my youth.

  • @erscott13 I agree completely, Elisabeth! YouTube is brilliant for rediscovering music and television programmes from the past, also it is fascinating to discuss the subject of a video with other interested viewers.

  • @GrahamLondonUK, not to mention I'd never know about the Tro Lo Lo Man and the Numa guy without YouTube, rofl. Have you heard of them?

  • One of the best disco songs ever.

  • KICKIN'!

  • the bass line and brass accompaniments on this song are genius! In fact the whole thing is genius. Still my favorite KC song!

  • @crjaded

the bass groove came from Richard Finch, He was also co-founder of the band.

  • @spritualdiary

I know man! Big fan of HWC and RF! Glad you have such a great taste in music.

  • He died in 2000 accidentally as a heavy machine operator. Will always be remembered as a legend guitarist.he also played guitar in George Mcrae's "Rock Your baby".

  • Great Song

  • KC looks like Andy Roddick....spooky!

  • RIP Jerome Green (guitarist)

  • I read somewhere that his nam was Jerome Smith?

  • The percussionist really rips up a mean groove in the back!!!!!!!

  • He looks like Jim Carey.

  • wow only 3,000 views and if u go up and look up rap it has millions!! they don't know what music is. they need to listen to this stuff, and plus this is my favorite song.

  • So true, so true.

I wasn't even around in the disco era, and this is still the best song I've ever heard for such an early time in the group's life.

  • Also this is a replica

  • They do listen , then they steal ..oops I mean "sample" (those who can't play & create their own music take it from others aka sampling, ahhh the modern electronic musician) KC's "I Get Lifted" has been sampled on numerous rap songs and then there was the "Boogie Shoes " sample on "Take It To The House"

  • @rockfrk

July 2010: more than 30,000 views

    We won't forget KC.

  • @rockfrk plus these guys are proper musicians. i think it's such a shame that black music took a wrong turn at some point a few years ago. my parents saw them play in las vegas in 1983. apparently they brought the house down - standing ovations, dozens of encores - the audience wouldn't let them go.

  • Love the way everyone goes mental in the last few seconds and abandons all pretence at miming! Fantastic band, great song and brilliant memories - thanks!

  • God this brings back memories!!! Enjoy, we're not here long! :o)

  • THIS IS DISCO!!

  • This video it's so great, love it.

  • He gets the high notes because his name is George McCrae and his appearance on this record was uncredited at the time.

  • Great Classic 1 of my Favs how the hell does he get them high notes beats me

  • Actually, those high notes were done by George McCreae. Casey and Finch (Keyboard and Bass, respectively) wrote him "Rock Your Baby" in '73 or '74, I think, and I guess he owed KC a solid.

  • Takes me back. Early disco fave and Northern crossover.
