Actually it does. They have different, more precise rules than do bouncers. The law, and UF policy allows the use of tasers with actively resisting subjects. So there is no question that they they COULD use a taser. And carrying a struggling subject down two flights of stairs would be risky for the officers and the subject.
So it was their judgement that using a taser on drive stun to get his attention & convince him to stop struggling, and that is supported by law.
I'm not saying anything against throwing him out. I use to work for a nightclub and out of control people very reminiscent of Mr. Meyer would frequent the club on certain occasions. They would never need any more than one bouncer to throw someone like that out of the club. It just took picking the guy up and basically hailing a cab and getting him/her gone! Regardless of him saying "dont tase me ill leave" his actions PLUS the fact that he was under arrest made that impossible. He assaulted Police & continued to do so even when they had him on the ground. Tasing is a non lethal means of gaining compliance. It worked and they were able to get him cuffed and out of the building.

Actually it does. They have different, more precise rules than do bouncers. The law, and UF policy allows the use of tasers with actively resisting subjects. So there is no question that they they COULD use a taser. And carrying a struggling subject down two flights of stairs would be risky for the officers and the subject.
So it was their judgement that using a taser on drive stun to get his attention & convince him to stop struggling, and that is supported by law.

I'm not saying anything against throwing him out. I use to work for a nightclub and out of control people very reminiscent of Mr. Meyer would frequent the club on certain occasions. They would never need any more than one bouncer to throw someone like that out of the club. It just took picking the guy up and basically hailing a cab and getting him/her gone! Never needing to use any type of weapon or use of violence. Once in a blue moon two bouncers would be needed.

Then you aren't watching close enough. The faculty members are both the ones that are asking the Police to get him to hurry along and also are the ones to call for his mic to be but. He was NOT willing to do what they wanted. He continued to resist after being warned that doing so would result in his being tased. At the point he assaulted a Police Officer he was under arrest and they had no obligation to listen to Kerry.

It wasn't his words it was his actions that got him tasered. The faculty decided that his presence was no longer welcome, the Police were going to escort him out and then he got the bright idea to assault a Police Officer. He got exactly what he deserved. The Police have been cleared and Meyers has appologized. He should have been charged but they accepted his appology and ( got to meyerscase dot com ) while his questions do deserve answers they are not the reason he was tased.

No. At that point he was under arrest. He cannot say, "I don't like handcuffs & I don't like laying on the floor. Let me up, take this one cuf off of me and I'll just walk out." It doesn't work that way. He was violently thrashing around, kicking, throwing elbows and they needed to get him restrained. Saying, "Get the fuck off me" to the Police & then pushing & kicking them wasn't a good way to try to win his release from cuffs.

Regardless of him saying "dont tase me ill leave" his actions PLUS the fact that he was under arrest made that impossible. He assaulted Police & continued to do so even when they had him on the ground. Tasing is a non lethal means of gaining compliance. It worked and they were able to get him cuffed and out of the building.

They didn not really aswer why he got arrested, and did not read him his rights too. He had the right to keep standing for 3 days and speak if he wanted too, everything he did was 100% legal.
