I feel bad for her, but the way she talks to him... it's almost like she wants it. Why else would she say "You're an animal... You're rock bottom" etc. I mean if she really thinks this, then why would she go with him? I guess she learned a lesson. The girl in the sequel got it much worse. But, yeah, that version was kind of over-the-top.
That rape scene was terrifying. We didn't even have to see what happened to her; it was obvious enough without having it spelled out for us. Just goes to show that old horrors and thrillers could be frightening without losing one ounce of subtlety, as opposed to the gore fests of today.
One of the most terrifying thrillers in history, and far superior to Scorcese's dysfunctional remake. Regarding this segment, gorgeous Barrie Chase was, of course, a superb dancer, but seeing her work here, it's a pity that she didn't act more often. She's flawless, and her body language expresses what Max Cady (Mitchum) did to her, without us having to see the gory details.
Yeah, the remake was actually really really good. Some scenes were actually more real and believable than the original. One of the greatest movie remakes of all time.

@WolfQueene oh yeah terrifying I was trembling. Believe this was a great movie but lets not call it terrifying. It wasn't even a scene really.

@WolfQueene,
Yeah horror has become nothing but films just to exploit gore. They have become the joke of Tinseltown.

@edwardjames50 In what way is Scorsese's remake "dysfunctional"? I personally think it's a bit better than the original.
