Yoshiyuki Timono suffered from serious depression while making many of his war drama shows, and it shows most heavily in Gundam Z and Victory Gundam, which is the single most depressing thing I've ever watched.

Two characters in Zeta were rumored to be based partly off of a voice actress for one of the characters and the lead mecha designer for the show, whom Timono was involved in a romantic triangle with.

It didn't end well for Timono and the ending to shit show is quite depressing.
