Thank you so much for this. I was trying to put up just those two types of soap dishes and was wondering whether to use thin set or another adhesive. The instructions on the packaging for the dishes was far too vague.
fema1988. Have seen a few of your negative comments now on different tiling videos so decided to check you out. Guess what I found? Youre 21. Zero experience!
joelmole, we all know what's easier, what most of us wants is the look. Regular soap-dish in the corner? Not in my shower. Don't they make corner one for that?
Fema, it does sound like you're having a bad day but then again, who likes to watch a guy who's trying to cheat in the shower?

I may be having a bad day today but please - First corner shelve- what did you need that tape for?
Your shampoo holder sits on the leap of the tile already. Second one - what a dumb place to put your regular soap dish- in the corner? Are you retarded or something?
You should name this video : Dumb and dumber presents soap dish installation for dummies
Pay attention to the video. The tape keeps the dish from sagging until the thinset dries.
It's in the corner next to the shower head so the water doesn't spray on your bar of soap and dissolve it away. He did a corner installation because it's easier to cut the corner out of the tile instead of a centered cut-out in the middle of the tile.
All of this is explained in the video. I found it informative. I'm in the process of replacing a soap dish myself.
